Summary: A basic necessity for all nonprofits
Review: I am an accountant who works with several nonprofit organizations. I bought this book and realized that nonprofits could use Quickbooks to track their finances if they knew the guidelines and tricks that are in this book (I used to think that Quickbooks could never work correctly for nonprofits). I bought a copy of this book for each nonprofit client, and I was able to cut the time I spend working on the books and preparing reports for the government and for their funding agencies by two-thirds. Since many accountants charge nonprofits less, or work on a pro bono basis, this book can save accounting practices a lot of money.

Summary: Long Overdue Information
Review: I'm not an accountant but I'm a volunteer treasurer for two nonprofit groups. This book is amazing. I've been struggling with QuickBooks because it's inexpensive and our accountant is used to it, but it took many hours and dollars for our accountant to produce reports for our grantors. Now I can produce the reports at a moments notice, and, more important, I can track what's going on in every facet of these community centers. I can talk to staff about budgets and increases (or decreases) because I know where the money is, where it's being spent, and where we can save money. Plus I will probably save the groups a lot of money in accountants fees. I'm not even embarrassed and nervous going to board meetings any more because I can talk about money and explain the figures and reports. This book is the best thing to happen to small nonprofit groups.
