Rating: Summary: enough for the cert ... Review: I bought this book, wanting to prepare for the developer/2000 cert, because this is a good method for quick learning new stuff. I learned for the first exam PL/SQL with this book, and it was really interresting. Beginning with chapter 11 for Building Forms, I was very disappointed, since I had to waste my time learning, where or how to click or dbclick in the ObjectNavigator or LayoutEditor... (The 3 last exams could be summarized to only one !). I think, I will not continue my cert. But the book discusses really the needed stuff for someone, who want to be certified.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book Available For Oracle Developer/2000 Review: This book covers it all. SQL, PL/SQL, Forms, Reports, Graphics...the works. I bought it and methodically went through each unit, and then took each exam. I passed every one of them! I had had a little bit of experience with Developer before, but I wouldn't have passed a single exam without this book. Bravo!
Rating: Summary: The Ticket for Being OCP Developer!! Review: Read it, and passed them within three weeks!
Rating: Summary: Must-read to certify yourself Review: I recently passed the certification exams, especially due to this book. It really helped me gain insight and the tips provided were invaluable. I would highly recommend this book to anyone seriously taking up the Developer/2000 certification.
Rating: Summary: Strong coverage of Developer Forms & Reports Review: At last, a readable book on Developer/2000. I wasn't planning to take any exams when I bought it...I just needed to learn Developer, and wasn't happy with any other book I found. After I bought this and saw how accessible Developer can be, I started signing up for exams. I've passed both Forms exams, and am schedule for the Reports exam. (I put the PLSQL exams last, because those parts of this book could use some help...they contain some mistakes, and I want a second book to augment the information.)For Developer alone, this is the best book available. For Developer and PLSQL, this plus the PLSQL Programming book are the unstoppable duo.
Rating: Summary: Best OCP book Review: Read it and pass them, better than his OCP DBA boo
Rating: Summary: Fairly Comprehensive Review: This is a good book to help prepare for the Certification tests but not one you must begin your journey in Oracle with. It has a broad sweep but only skims the surface. It is worth reading from cover to cover. The language is easy to understand and does not compromise on the accuracy of presentation.
Rating: Summary: An excellent piece of work Review: Wow! I didn't realize that Developer/2000 could be so easy to use. The documentation it comes with isn't great, and Oracle Press's Handbook isn't a lot better. But this book makes Developer/2000 very clear. The examples relate to real life, and the step-by-step instructions are exceedingly easy to follow. I was especially blown away by the exercises on creating forms to store audio and picture data in a database...it's a lot easier than I thought it would be. Two thumbs up!
Rating: Summary: One of the books for Certification! Review: The book is not complete! You have to refer to The Complete reference & Pl/Sql programming for several topics.
Rating: Summary: Only available choice for developer track and it is good Review: I completed my certification in 2 months time and this book was a great help indeed. Though I did developer track 1, I bought this book as a reference (This book is for track 2). And it proved to be an excellent book for certification. Though some test questions are not similar to real one, they give good practice for exam.I strongly recommand this book to all developers who want to become an OCP.
