As a print designer who made the transition 6 years ago (including the dreaded Mac to PC paradigm), this book is the book I wish I would have written. Zeldman's organization and content are accessable and this book does a wonderful job of clearly providing a useful explanation. Zeldman also does a nice job of explaining the shift of designing for the medium. He also spends some time with navigation, UI, and the basics of HTML -- all that are crucial to becoming an effective web designer. When you are looking to transition from Quark to HTML, be sure to have read this book and understand the nuances. It will save you a lot of headaches later on.

The subject matter could be horribly stuffy, dense or snooty with that inimitable High-Design arrogance (and I have a shelf stacked with books that prove it!). Instead, his easy style and engagement with his readers does exactly what he suggests good design should do. It carries you forward with anticipation instead of pain. Great book!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A must have for today's Web designer Review: Zeldman tackles many of the issues facing today's Web designers with humor, intelligence and introspection. "Taking Your Talent to the Web" provides a clear, common sense path to insure successful site conceptualization, development, deployment and beyond. It is truly a must read for Web designers.
