Rating: Summary: C for Dummies is the best C book yet! Review: I was tring to teach myself C/C++, but the books that I had kept getting me confused. But this book kept me interested and learning. Dan does this with down-to-earth words instead of techie words, and with many jokes. I can't wait to get to Vol. II!
Rating: Summary: the best book for starting your c programming career! Review: If you want to start your programming career, here is the place to start! This man is the best author out there, and he explains everything and makes it easy to understand. THIS IS DEFINETLY THE BOOK FOR YOU !!
Rating: Summary: Simply a great book. Review: This books teaches you how to program in C with the assumtion that you have no experience at all in programming. Dan Gookin does a good job of clearly explaining everything, and making it fun while you learn (a very humerous book). Recommened for anyone wanting to learn C.
Rating: Summary: This is an absolutly fantastic beginner's guide to C!!! Review: This is an absolutly fantasic guide to C programming. Dan Gookin turns complex materials into witty jokes.
Rating: Summary: Dan Gookin is the best! Review: This is my first book that I bought for C programming. I really liked Dan Gookin's jokes! He is so funny! I especially liked volume I because he explained C programming clearly. For some reason, he was not as funny as he was before in volume II and the concept gets somehow confusing.
Rating: Summary: A very good choice for beginners Review: I hadn't done any programming ever until I got this book. I'm now just a few chapters into it, and I'm writing real, albeit simple, stuff. I like the way he gives you exercises and simple tests to re-inforce what you've learned. A great choice.
Rating: Summary: Great book for the non-programmer! Review: I had 5-10 books on programming and I couldn't get anything out of them because they all assumed you knew at least -something- on programming.. with the humor and cartoons in the book, it's worth it, especially at $20..
Rating: Summary: Easy to follow! Review: It's esay to understand and everything is explained very clearly. As it's really difficult to find English books here in Japan and expensive, too! I found out about Amazon.com from a friend and order this set of C For Dummies and realized that C programming is not as hard as it sounds!!! A wondeful books for the beginners!
Rating: Summary: Great starting point for beginning C programmers! Review: A great starting point for beginners. It mixes in humor and instructions for learning. Very easy to understand. I read this book about 3-4 months ago when I started learning how to program. Since then, I have learned C, C++, Windows 95 Programming with Object Windows Library, and am going to start learning Windows 95 API Programming. A great starting point for most people.
Rating: Summary: A must have for learning C language! Review: Dan Gookin incorporates both humor and learning making this an easy to read book. I would never have survived C without it, as the text I had been using was too technical for beginners and the reading was very dry. Unfortunately I had to finish the course without Vol 2, but by then I had learned the basics well enough that I was then able to understand the more difficult aspects. Since reading this book I now look for other titles by Dan Gookin because I know I will learn from them and not be bored.
