Rating: Summary: This is a must have for anyone considering taking the lab Review: This book is a great study guide, I particularly liked the routing protocol chapters.
Rating: Summary: Not coming close to a CCIE Lab preparaton book Review: The title of the book has nothing to do with the content. The Lab exercises are very basic, NO Bridging at all.!? No Dlsw configuration, No complex exercises with more than 3 routers having more than one protocol IP,IPX,APPLETALK, no voice configuration, no protocol type access lists. I would not recomend this book to anyone. Even for beginners, there is a much better collection of books.
Rating: Summary: Good book, but not quite CCIE level. Review: This is a good book to use to study for your CCIE, but it is does not contain enough, or anything on the following important topics that may come up on your CCIE lab DLSw+, SNA, ATM Lane, OSPF area types. Although this book does cover most of the other topics I belive that they do not go into enough detail.
Rating: Summary: Errors upon errors, did I mention errors. Review: I found myself correcting the book as I was reading it. Router configs are missing necessary commands and have incorrect configurations. It is obvious that configs from other labs were placed in the wrong section of text. Labs are very simple as well, do not expect to see the level of labs in this book anywhere near your real lab exam. On a positive note the book does cover a fair amount of subject matter that will be on the written exam.
Rating: Summary: Good starter book for CCIE Lab preparation.. Review: This is a good book. I would recommend it to anyone who is in quest of their CCIE. This book will get you started and help you to get your feet wet when it comes to the labs, they are not in depth but will get you started. If you don't have anywhere to start and don't want to jump right into some really heavy duty labs like the CCIEBOOTCAMP labs then this book is for you. Great starter book.
Rating: Summary: Too many errors Review: This book contains a number of errors. Some are simply cosmetic, ie missing text, etc. Others are more serious. How can you study the effects of access lists on router behaviour if the access list is missing from the configs? Anyone who has ever used Cisco routers for ISDN knows that you MUST enter a switch type in the config. So far, I have found 9 serious errors in this book. I am on chapter 11 and just reviewed the chapter on access lists.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: This is great CCIE resource, I would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Good for Beginners..not for the "seasoned" birds :-) Review: This is a nice collection of lab scenarios. Depending on your hands-on experience, you can rate it very good... or maybe just so so. Don't think you'll pass the CCIE lab just by getting this one book. This is a good book for beginners. IPX and Appletalk labs are nice. If you already feel comfortable with Frame-Relay and other stuff, skip this one.
Rating: Summary: Great labs = good hands on- if you've got the equipment. Review: The labs in this book are excellent but it would really help to know going in what type of routers and related equipment is needed for many of the labs. Can't fault the material. Covers ISDN, access-lists, debugging, troublshooting, all the major protocols and even some switching. If you've got the gear, the labs are excellent. You'll also need experience. This isn't a book for newbies.
Rating: Summary: An excellent book even for those who donot want to take CCIE Review: This book is basically for the CCIE candidates but it can also be used by other people who want to know about the advanced aspects of Cisco Router configuration. I would say it is a very good book in this price.
