Summary: Amazing, this book contains it all.
Review: I just received the second edition of this book. It has been totally re-worked. MPLS, IPSec, Voice, and DLSW are now covered in detail. 33 brand new labs in all !! This is a must have book for any CCIE candidate. It is also useful as a desktop reference.

Summary: good book
Review: well, this book in my opinion is outstanding, the diagrams are great, explanations understandable and without the fat usually filling the pages on other books. However, there is a lot this book leaves out that is covered in the CCIE lab, and various things that you may wish to have material upon in great detail, in the case of readers using this for industry tips, many implementations that will come up every day the book skimps upon in my opinion. I feel this book is ideal for anyone studying towards CCNP/DP certifications in routing and switching and it will be without doubt of help towards CCIE certification, just don't rely upon it 100%. If this book had a different title or possibly 3 extra chapters it would be more than worthy of a 5th star.

I emphasise this book is the best hands-on guide I have come across. It just doesn't cover 100% of the material required for CCIE lab tests.

Summary: A reference for the tedious things you do in a CCIE lab
Review: The only thing you will get out of this book is a visual walk through of IOS commands and the _format_ of the corresponding output. This book is chock full of shocking mistakes. Command outputs often don't match the so-called "lab" networks. On occasion, the explanations that accompany the usage of a configuration (or 'show') command are downright wrong! Unless you're willing to build the "lab" networks in the book and verify the commands and outputs, don't buy it.

Summary: Excellent Preparation
Review: As a CCNP/CCDP/MCSE with the CCIE written behine me; this book provides an excellent preparation for the CCIE test with a good amount of practice scenarios. Anyone who thinks one book will covering everything needed to cover the CCIE practical is dillusional. Supplement this book with Cisco CCO CD or online configuration scenarios, as well as, and other online labs for more complex scenarios. The CCIE test is very diverse; multiple reference sources and methods of study should be employed to prepare for such. This is the reason the CCIE certification is so sought after and valuable. This book will provide you with baseline lab scenarios and troubleshooting tips that will aid you in the completion of more complex scenarios and the use of other Cisco IOS options.

Summary: Great book
Review: This book has been a great resource in my quest for cerification. The only thing that is missing is DLSW, but every other major topic is covered in detail. I highly recommend this book.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A complete study guide for passing the lab exam!
Review: This book really covers it all. I felt as if I had someone sitting beside me walking me through each practice lab.

Things that I found extremely useful were: A detailed technology overview on each topic, this helped me make sure I was up to speed on each topic. The troubleshooting info on each topic helped especially as I studied ATM and Frame Relay. The book also contains "notes" and "tip" sections that were very insightful.

Summary: Great study Guide and good desktop reference
Review: I just started working with Cisco routers and have purchased many books. I really liked the format of this book, and the detailed lab scenarios were great. It has been a great resource while studying for my certification and on the job.

Summary: CCNA not CCIE
Review: The title of the book is misleading. Should be called "Introduction to Cisco Networking: Practice Labs". The book is good at presenting simple two or three router exercises, but does not help you prepare for the CCIE Lab.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Will not prepare you for the lab test
Review: Book has many errors which may be good to help you learn troubleshooting, but I don't think that was the authors intent.

Subjects are not covered well enough to get you through the CCIE lab.

Summary: Are you kidding me?
Review: I've met these guys about a month ago while they were down here visiting Cisco, and these guys are total clowns. The book ought to be entitled "Networks for Dummies". The cover is false advertising, and anyone who says otherwise probably is having a hard time passing the CCNA. What a joke.
