Summary: Not the only book you would need for CCIE
Review: This is a well organized book, covering most of the topics listed on the CCO (it even covers apple talk, and mpls which by the way are not on the list) Good starter book, definitely not for pros or people with some Cisco exposure. I would recommend this book to people who are trying to setup small home labs with 3-4 routers, and trying to get some basic hands-on.

pros:
Small lab scenarios, easy to setup with 3-4 routers.
Good approach, takes you step by step (good for people who are used to spoon-feeding)

cons:
No complete CCIE lab scenario
Too easy, doesn't go into much details
Doesn't cover all the topics you'll see on the actual test

Review: I visited my local bookstore this afternoon, and found a pleasant surprise waiting in the Cisco section. The new 'CCIE Lab Study Guide' by Stephen Hutnik and Michael Satterlee has been released by McGraw-Hill. (ISBN 0-07-135108-6, price: $80). Through a series of 86 lab exercises the authors have done a fine job of documenting the areas to study for the CCIE lab exam.

No matter where you are in your progress towards the exam, this book is a worthwhile addition to your Cisco library. The book begins with a chapter titled, "Take the Lab Once and Pass", a very encouraging statement. The authors have minimized introductory and appendix material, filling the one thousand pages with highly focused, useful material. I was glad to see coverage of topics such as ATM, HSRP, and NTP. While I knew that only the basics of these topics should be mastered for the lab exam, the authors have made this job much easier for me.

The entire book contains output from numerous working configurations. These examples confirm that the authors did not just throw together another theory book, but have taken the time and effort to create scenarios that can be recreated by the reader. A CD accompanies the book, and contains complete configurations so that the reader can copy and paste them into home lab hardware.

In short, this book is one of the most interesting books concerning certification topics. Buy it, and plan to stay up late the night of your purchase. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Bridges the gap between CCNP and CCIE
Review: While it lacks the complexity and completeness of other CiscoPress CCIE books, in more than make up for it by giving intuitive, easily to follow lab scenarios. As result fulfills its duties of helping CCNP students bridge the gap that separate from the promised land, the CCIE certification.

Summary: All in One has Challenges None
Review: If your ready to practice for the lab you're way beyond this book. It is broad and covers a lot of the areas you need to know but it approaches it as if you are a beginner. Each lab starts with a useless text about the subject of the lab. How much more do you need to read about RIP, ISDN, Frame Relay, etc. If you are ready to practice for the lab you should have the written stuff down cold. The book could be half as many pages if they'd throw out the fluff. As far as the labs themselves, they are just training exercises the way they are presented. You don't get a spec that you can attempt and then compare to their answer. They give a general idea of what will be done then walk you through the exercise. As they show you their configs they present a lot of requirements that were not mentioned in the beginning. This book is better prep for the written than the lab.

I feel like I've wasted my money on it. I was fooled by these authors other book the CCIE Lab Practice kit. It is a good challenging lab practice book with complete specs so you can work the exercise before comparing your solution to theirs.

Summary: Take the confusion out of the router!
Review: Routers, bridges, gateways, brouters, TCP/IP, frame relay, atm, ccie, wan, all these terms may be unfamiliar to you now, but open the All-In-One CCIE Lab Study Guide and thing may become a little clearer.

In just under 1000 pages you will have more than 80 hands-on labs that deal with basic router configuration to ATM to RIP to OSPF. The book shows you how to debug the router code, how to maintain a wan and various other networks troubleshooting techniques.

The book covers key routing protocols such as RIP, BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF. Watch, read, learn and try as the authors take the mystery out of the Cisco Router. McGraw-Hill has made a reputation of publishing quality computer books and this book is a perfect example.

Don't let the price sway your decision, there are a number of books on the marker about CCIE, the difference here is this book is the most complete book I have ever seen. If you are looking to pass the CCIE exam, make your first stop this book - you won't be sorry!

Summary: Not even close.
Review: I am sorry to say this book is full of errors and does not even come close to the complexity level needed. There are far better Lab preparation books available. Don't throw your money away on this.

Summary: Awsome CCNP - CCNA Study Aid
Review: This book was the reason i was able to pass my CCNA, and CCNP tests to this date.

The review section at the beginning of each chapter, helps you reinforce what you learned in the past, and helps you fill in any blanks you might have had.

Once you start doing the labs, your vision will become clear and you will start hearing yourself say: "Ohh so that's how it works" ...
This book is not really a good source to study for your CCIE however its an invaluable tool for your CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP study time...

Summary: My opinion
Review: I used this book during my early prep for the R/S lab. There are errors, but still a pretty good book. It however is not even close to the complexity or depth of knowledge required on the actual lab. Just my opinion (and yes, I am a CCIE).

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good Book
Review: In general the book is good. Here is few conclusions:
* Many mistakes in configs
* Labs too simple

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best CCIE book on the market
Review: By far this is the best CCIE book I have purchased to date. It is well written has great technologies overviews (no fat) and great lab scenarios. Well worth the money I highly recommend it.
