Rating: Summary: Wondering why this book is so complicated? Review: For a some time I've been looking for a book which will be simple enough to help me start programing with VBA for Aplication. When I found this un my local bookstore, I hoped it will be the one. Well it's a pretty good book. It cover most of the topic's needed for programing in VBA. But it does'nt have one thing which is most inportant (in my opinion). Like a most of other books on this subjects, this one explain items from VBA for aplication in randomly select order. So it does'nt show you how to start building an aplication from very begining, and it does'nt help you if somethings go wrong in your leyerning from your book. I hope in future this writer will give more space to explanations about possible mistake that one can make in programming.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: I am a self taught Access developer, and i was looking for a good Access VBA book, that could help me with all those doubts and problems that come along when we try to take it a little further... Well... this is the book! The author explains everything in a very understandable way. It was really helpful and, certainly my best buy in the last months...
Rating: Summary: Thumbs Up Review: I found this book excellent to go back and brush up on fundlementals, and certainly filled in some missing gaps in my knowledge. I would think this would be a good book for someone new to VBA also.
Rating: Summary: Awesome book Review: I found this book to be a great resource for understanding how to write then troubleshoot my code. The book is well written and clearly organized. It is definitely on of the best software books I have ever purchased.
Rating: Summary: Not useful for developers Review: I must agree with other reviewers. In spite of a good knowledge of Access the reading of this book does not help to write practical applications, and is very frustrating. The author jumps from topic to topic and gives very little code that can be used in real life situations. I would qualify this book as no more than a broad and theoretical overview.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Presentation Review: If you have already spent time zipping around in Access, trying to make it do stuff, this book is a Godsend. Excellent drill-down into the guts of Access, including high-level overview of how Access is put together and how it "thinks". This is a top-notch, practical guide to mastering Access (at least mastering it to the point where you can crack open the Access 2000 Developer's Handbook (Getz/Litwin) and get it. Easily 5 stars *****. b.
Rating: Summary: Poorly written text did not follow CD Review: The book illustrates data that is not in the referenced database and discusses information in a database that is on the supplied CD. However, the author does not reveal the password for the database for an additional 20 pages. That database is also encrypted so that it is virtually useless since the author discusses making changes to it. Very poorly written.
Rating: Summary: Confusing Review: The book illustrates data that is not in the referenced database and discusses information in a database that is on the supplied CD. However, the author does not reveal the password for the database for an additional 20 pages. That database is also encrypted so that it is virtually useless since the author discusses making changes to it. Very poorly written.
Rating: Summary: You tried the rest, here's the best Review: The book is great for a beginner. If you want examples you can apply and understand this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Poorly written text did not follow CD Review: There was a lot of material in this book, but it has nearly all presented elsewhere better and more clearly. This basically reads like a book that somebody put together by cutting and pasting from other books on the market. There was not any kind of help with problems that users would encounter in the real world. I would say this book is about 80% filler. Not worth the money.
