Summary: Wonderful explanation of the Pokemon characters
Review: As a parent I must confess I was totally ignorant of the details involved with "knowing" about Pokemon. My first grade son read this book to me. The vocabulary involved was difficult, but his interest in the subject encouraged him to learn every new word. I never understood how much there was to know about each of the characters in order to fully play the games. It requires the intricate knowledge of each one, in order to best strategically play this game. Now when I help out with the "Writing Workshop" in his class, I actually know what the boys are writing about. Thank you for this comprehensive guide. It saved my sanity.

Summary: Mom's review
Review: I got this book for my oldest son and he loves it. Each of the first 150 Pokemon are shown and described, in easy to understand language. It was so simple even *I* understood it!

My son is 9 and he thought this book was perfect for what he wanted. His younger brothers (ages 5 and 2) also liked it, and my 2 year old can now name at least 75 Pokemon by sight as a result!

I think it's a good, fun tool for the kids in that it develops their memory. Not only does it teach them the names of the Pokemon, but also their type and other information about them. I would recommend this book to any Pokemon enthusiast.

Summary: A great book!!
Review: I love this book!! If you want to brush up on your Pokemon skills, or you want to read it to tell your mom that you've read a book tonight this has great reading value. It's a good book that should be made into a sorta sequel so that all of the Pokemon discovered are in one book!!

Review: I recommend this handbook to anyone who likes poke`mon because it has 144 pages of the 151 poke`mon characters including mew. When I first got it I read it all in one day because it was so cool,But I still read it every day since I got it. If you have gameboy with a poke`mon game then this book is for you because it tells about:what element it is and what attacks it does, what its good and bad against and what leavel it Evolves at.

Summary: Strange Critter Country
Review: I remember when the Pokémon™ craze was at its peak a few years back. And having been a comic book & collectibles shop employee at the time, I had a front-row seat to the insanity that this legendary fad incited! Kids fallin' over each other to get the last pack of gaming cards in the box, parents who were outraged at the prices we were asking for the rarer holofoil cards, and folks who wanted to know what the big deal was. It was a very busy and tense couple of years, lemme tell ya. ESPECIALLY during the Holiday gift rush!

Because the craze was widespread, and myself right smack-dab in the middle of this horrific storm, I decided to bone up on my PokéKnowledge. This book was the first tome on the subject that I picked up. Featuring somewhat brief yet informative profiles and descriptions on each of the first wave-- & a couple of the second-- of these sickeningly-cute little beasties, this paperback gave me the lowdown on each one's abilities, skills, and other basic attributes. Yep, there was some surprisingly helpful stuff in this bad-boy. And even though I get queasy after watchin' just five minutes of a PokéEpisode, I actually found some of these buggers to be downright cute. Maybe it's my testosterone levels bottoming out or something. Heck, I even have a favorite Pokémon™ critter! I gotta get away, I really do...

Summary: Worth the money
Review: I was hesitant to buy a ... Pokemon book, but my son uses it constantly for reference. Plus if you are an adult who is in the dark about the subject, this book can help you get up to speed on who the characters are.

Summary: Nice, But...
Review: If you enjoy playing Pok'emon: Red Version, Pok'emon: Blue Version, and/or Pok'emon: Yellow Version, you will find this handbook quite useful. It not only lists information about the Pok'emon you'll be catching and training, and information abut the gym leaders you'll be facing, but includes a checklist to keep track of which Pok'emon you've captured. Information about Pok'emon includes attacks that they can learn, what to do to get them to evolve, what element they are, what elements they're strong against, and what elements they're weak against. The rest of the information, if I remember correctly, such as height, weight, and the little paragraphs telling about the Pok'emon are kind of useless, but still fun to read if you're bored and the book just happens to be laying nearby.

Overall, I'd say this book isn't that useful anymore, considering the fact that everyone has already moved on to more updated versions of the Pok'emon game. This book could possibly be helpful to those with Pok'emon: Leaf Green or Pok'emon: Fire Red versions, though I believe there's already a more accurate guide to them.

But if you prefer the older, easier Pok'emon games (like myself), and need more information on what to do and what to expect, I recommend this to you. It will not only cover a decent amount of information, but because of its age it could possibly be found at a low price.

Summary: It's a wonderful book!
Review: If you need to ever know what kind of Pokemon is that, when does it evolve, and things like that, buy this book. It's got over 100 pages of information in it so I think it's definately worth the price. Plus, it's got little reviews of Togepi and Mew that are fun to read and show off to your friends. I definately recommend this book to everyone who's a Pokemon fan.

Review: Imagine our dilemma when our 4 1/2 year old son insisted on buying this book on a recent shopping trip. My wife and I felt it was one more Pokemon marketing ploy. We were delightfully surprised. Our son reads from this book everyday! Not only has it enhanced his ability to read, he loves learning everything he can about Pokemon characters!
