Summary: ASP is not only VBScript!
Review: Before I read this book I thought the ASP technology could be good for little web applications only. Now I use ASP as basic technology to build all my applications. Finally I discovered an important reality: ASP is not only VBScript!

Summary: ASP in a nutshell
Review: I picked up this book as my first ASP book ever! Since I have picked up many and just recently this book has become remotely helpful. As a newbie I was very intimidated and confused with this book. And almost gave up on ASP since no fundamentals were discussed. Now since I have a better grasp on the technology I can understand a little better but I still find the structure and long winded explanations to be confusing.

Summary: Reference, not a book to learn ASP
Review: This book is a reference. All it does it quickly mention all classes, objects and properties and explain what they do. This way some fundamental explanation is left out (while some trivial information has been copy-pasted dozens of times). As I am a professional VB and VBA programmer, I figured ASP wouldn't be too hard with a reference manual. Yet I failed to get "the big picture" with this book. I reckon it'll be a good reference for those that already have another ASP book...

Summary: Missing Basic Language Reference!
Review: I was able to get a construct for the language in a very short amount of time. I like the way the book is setup, according to ASP's object framework. However, I'm sorely disappointed in the lack of a language reference appendix, similar to O'reilly's JavaScript book (or even UNIX in a Nutshell, for that matter). For example I was looking for the syntax in evaluating two strings. That's right, no entry for "evaluating", "if", or relevant information on "variables." I now need to look into buying a second ASP book that covers some of the basic programming concepts associated with ASP.

Summary: Another wonderful title from O'Reilly
Review: While Weissinger claims that the purpose of this book is primarily reference, I read through it with absolutely no knowledge of VBScript or ASP, and am now incorporating it regularly into my web development projects. A must read for anone seeking to learn ASP or improve their understanding of it.

Summary: The perfect desktop ASP reference
Review: Exactly what it claims to be. Use it constantly for ASP development

Summary: Simply Excellent ....But not for First time ASP learners...
Review: Its a wonderful book. It covers indepthly every object, property, methods, events etc with crystal clear examples. This book will be extremly useful only for the users who are already familier atleast a little with asp.

Summary: Great book.
Review: Will help any developer who knows VB get up and running very quickly! If you need to do some ASP buy this book.

Summary: Great Book
Review: I am a developer new to ASP, but this book is consice and is straight to the point that I could jump in and started to get to work in couple of days. I saved lots of time by not reading what I have known.

This is a very good book, for both beginners and experienced developers.

Summary: Pretty complete for a 'Nutshell' book
Review: This is the second book I've bought on ASP. Being new to the subject, I thought I'd be better off with a more comprehensive offering.

Was I wrong. With my shallow VB knowledge I had to do a lot of cross-reading which is the worst thing happening to someone trying to develop an application.

This book however lays it on gently. I do not agree that beginners should steer clear of this title, perhaps they should allow themselves more time to assimilate the material. The examples do a good job of illustrating the concepts in question.

The only complaint I have (and a major one) is that there is no index of all the objects, methods, properties etc; otherwise it would have scored full points.
