Rating: Summary: *****10 STARS***** Don't listen to the negatives up here Review: It's excellent! It's a perfect book for someone like me who got dumped into the position of NetAdmin with very little knowledge of anything server related. I am flying by the seat of my pants and this book is my worthy, knowlegable co-pilot! It has been the one book that has saved our network from certain doom at the hands of a kicking and screaming newbie (no, i didn't want the job, it just fell to me...) If you read it, it's just fantastic. Start at page one and go all the way through. I know it's not as fun as hanging out drinking a brew with the girlz (or boyz) but if you do it, you will reap the rewards. It will take you from newbie lack of confidence to having enough confidence to run your network AND you get enough about other technologies to know where to start looking for information if/when you need it. Some of the reviews here are really negative. One person said that in no place did the book mention virtual directories. Well, I just did a search of the books contents right here on Amazon and it came up with 46 references to virtual directories. So I think that if people don't like this book it is because they aren't reading it. So do yourself and your company a favor and just buy the book already. I can't recommend it highly enough. I can only rate this with 5 starz cuz thats all Amazon offers, but I really mean 10. Okay? Buy it.

Rating: Summary: Beautiful book! Review: Nice job on this book. It covers all of the topics that I face as a systems administrator. Not only does this book go into detail about IIS, but it talks about all of the other technologies that interface with IIS. I never realized that a book on IIS would so useful to me for Exchange and Windows 2000. I also really like that this book provides coverage for Clustering, Load-Balancing, and WebDAV.
Rating: Summary: Finally someone let the light shine on IIS Review: Okay, so my team was faced with the project of building multiple IIS servers. I hadn't installed IIS since the first release that came with NT server. This book saved us. The author speaks English, and guided us easily through the steps from unwrapping to unveiling into production environment. Nice usage of diagrams, hints & tips, and information not readily available elsewhere (that we could find). Anyone who feels overwhelmed by IIS should use this book.
Rating: Summary: Saved my butt Review: Our company needed to upgrade our 35 IIS 4.0 servers and, of course, management wanted them all completed in about a month. Our servers are across geographical regions and we just didn't have the personnel to do it. Using the great unnattended installation explanations in this book, we upgraded all 35 servers in 3 weeks! Management is happy and our servers are running great!
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: Thanks to the great reviews here, I bought this book on IIS 5.0. The reviews are right on target. This book teaches you all about IIS 5.0, and then gives you a lot more to think about. I was really surprised at all of the topics this book covers because I really had no idea that I would need the extra information -- until I was promoted to LAN Admin after 6 months on the helpdesk. It was a real dream to be able to read through this book and get the ground level grit I needed to administer IIS, and also help me in my new responsibilities.
Rating: Summary: blech. can i have my money back? Review: There's few things in life more annoying than an overpriced techincal book, and this, friends is a first class example of that. I found this book worthless. I am still searching for the right one.

Rating: Summary: Top-notch guide to IIS Review: There's no question in my mind that this is the best IIS resource available. Every time I have question needing answered, I can find it quickly and easily in this book. I tried another book that I won't mention (MS Press), and I'd spend half an hour just trying to figure the index out. Add this book to library and you won't be sorry.
Rating: Summary: IIS Complete -- and more! Review: This book is the best written on IIS 5.0. Not only does it give you the same information you'll find in other books, but it goes even further and gives examples on how it applies to real business. You can go out and buy one of the other books and you'll have a nice, neat reference guide on your desk. But, when you want to understand how IIS 5.0 actually applies to the real world, you'll need to get this book. So, buy this book the first time.
