Summary: Amazing
Review: this is a best book for begginers, who does'nt know about ASP. A really very good book. I like it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is a must have if you want to learn ASP quickly!
Review: I picked up the book a few days ago, and from never have used ASP before, I finished the book in 3 days (I was very eager to get going and was short of time to finish what I wanted to do), and now I easily put together very advanced dynamic userbased websites with connections to databases. Needless to say that I finished my project on time. The book was excellent written and all the information was easy to understand and to learn immediately. I can't say it enough, one of the best programming books I've read since I started programming way back in the 80's on the Amiga. A huge thanks to the authors, it was a literally a lifesaver!

Summary: The Best Active Server Pages Book ever create!
Review: I have also read the ASP book for Dummies and I also believe that that book isn't even close to the quality of ASP 3.0 in 21 days. It's easy to understand. The Authors organize their work in a way that you just want to learn more and more. I finished the book in Two weeks and believe is the best programming book I ever read. (Believe me, I have read many!)

Summary: Need to Learn ASP? Got 21 Days?
Review: Sams's 21 Days series books are divided into 21 lessons, each designed to be easily completed within a day. The lessons are organized into three weeks. At the end of the week, review materials and bonus projects tie the lessons together.

Sams Teach Yourself Active Server Pages 3.0 in 21 Days begins Week 1 with an introduction to server-side scripting and the basic theory behind Active Server Pages programming. The bulk of the first week is spent discussing the VBScript scripting language, from variables to control structures, to useful functions. The week wraps up with a look at object-based programming and discusses the Response object in detail.

The second week begins with a look at using Forms to collect user input, and using the Request object to collect the information entered into Forms. Next, the other uses of the Request object are examined, including the ServerVariables and Cookies collections. This is followed by a look at using Session and Application variables, and a thorough discussion on ways of maintaining state on a Web site. The second week also covers how to read and write text files on the Web server, and how to enhance your ASP pages with the use of standard components. The week wraps up with a discussion on how to handle run-time errors gracefully using ASP 3.0's ASPError object.

Week 3, the final week of the book, focuses on integrating databases with ASP pages to create truly data-driven Web sites. A number of database topics are covered in this week, with discussions on relational database concepts, using ADO to query, insert, update, and delete records from a database, how to use SQL syntax to query data, and how to use Forms to create database seach pages. Also discussed in detail are the various ADO objects. The book wraps up with a chapter on ASP application design, highlighting the recommended steps to take when creating a Web application.

If you are new to Active Server Pages, and wanting to learn more, this book, Teach Yourself Active Server Pages 3.0 in 21 Days, is definately for you! After having read this book, you will be a proficient ASP developer, able to create powerful data-driven Web sites with ease!

Happy Programming!

Summary: Wonderful Book
Review: I rarely do this...but I just had to because you have to give credit where credit is due. I just wanted to write and say what an incredible job the authors did with SAMS ASP in 21 days book. I am only about half way through and feel like I just graduated from a year long course. I have read ASP for Dummies and it doesn't even compare to this book. They did a great job and really walked those of us with little programming experience through the whole process.

Summary: A great learning tool for ASP beginners...
Review: ...and a great reference for the advanced programmers.

This was the first ASP book I bought when I began to learn the language two years ago. It has an excellent tutorial methodology to it which is very easy to comprehend. It is also well written by two guys that know what they're talking about! (You can visit their web site at 4guysfromrolla.com)

Even though I have since purchased several other books on the subject (hoping to expand my knowledge base), I continue to find myself referring back to this one. Granted, this book is certainly not the be-all for Active Server Pages, and I have not found one that is, however, it is by far the one to begin with and hang on to.

FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY! I definitely recommend this book!

Summary: Good for beginners; Slow and repetative for advanced
Review: If you don't have any Visual Basic experience and/or much web development experience and you're looking for a book to get you in the door to ASP 3.0, this is the book for you. However, if you have a fuller programming background, you may find it tediously repetative and lacking in full scope coverage. For instance, there is no space given to handling XML.

On the bright side, I found it pretty easy to breeze through sections where I had familiarity.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The only ASP desk reference you need
Review: Even though I'm making the transition to ASP.NET, I still use this book occasionally. Good introduction to the ASP 3.0 model.
