Summary: A Great Overview Book
Review: This is one of the Solaris books I recommend to my SysAdmin co-workers when they ask for a book that covers Solaris. The language is clear and concise, and you can always find what you're looking for in either the index or the table of contents. It even has selected man pages so you can catch up on your Solaris wherever you happen to be.

I highly recommend this book to Sytem Administrators who already have a grasp of the basics of the Operating System, but who need to learn what's what with Solaris (as compared to the other flavors of UNIX).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very fine book to learn about Unix and shell scripting
Review: This is probably one of the best books to start learning about shell scripting and Unix. If you are looking for Solaris-specific skills, this might not be the best choice, but it sure will teach you the fundaments of shellscripts and Unix. Actually, even though I am rather experienced, I find myself returning to Sobell's book, because it's rather comprehensive.

The book is clear and well organized. I think it's a good thing to have even for an oldfart Unix admin like yours truly. Just don't expect it to be the best reference for Solaris.
