Summary: Good Book
Review: This is a great book for anybody who wants to learn C++, It teaches everything that it can in this size of book. The only problems are it doesn't explain a few things enough, I had to get other books to figure them out. And the examples are of things that would never be useful., The last thing is that there is too much background on WHY certain things do what they do, Which is useless information. It is still a great book, And these problems won't make it much more dificult. Still if you read it you'll be making programs on your own in 21 days to the day

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Absolutely the BEST "teach yourself" book on C++ available.
Review: If you've ever cast around trying to get a handle on C++ programming, this IS the book for you.

While the 21-day scenario to completely master all that is within this book is perhaps possible, the content in many of the "days" will keep you hopping ... perhaps 42-days would be more like it. Of course, that all depends upon your background and the amount of time you have available each day.

Especially commendable (and valuable) is the "Analysis" of each program. It seems to be the right balance between practical and theoretical issues.

The exercises, Q&A sessions, "BUG BUSTERS" and Workshops are invaluable; however, the SUMMARY at the end of each "day", to me, is worth even more.

A SUPERB introduction to C++; HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Summary: Good Enough but technicaly inacurate
Review: The 1st edition is full of mistakes. I can easily say that I learned C++ from debuging the codes given in the book. This is the only mistake that Mr. Liberty had made. Because of this error it took me 3 months to understand what C++ really is. There are good sides which I can not leave outside my comment, the subjects are ordered in a very good way. I'd probably advise the 2nd edition (where I suppoose it has less errors) of this book to buy.

Summary: A great way to learn C++
Review: I found this book to be a great way to learn C++. I had heard of many of the concepts before, but the explainations and examples made it so I really understood them. Plus there is just loads of good heuristics

Summary: Finally, a Good Book on Programming!
Review: Finally, a book on programming I can understand. I've been trying to learn how to program and have already invested more than $100 on other books that were too advanced or too vague. However, this book is good for the beginner and is very clear.

If you want to buy this for the ZD University class offered in conjunction, don't waste your money on ZDU. The info on ZDU is no different from the book and there's no lectures. (It's like paying to run on a treadmill when you can accomplish the same thing for nothing by running outside) Just buy the book.

IMPORTANT!
Make sure to download the Errata sheet, this book has a few mistakes. Go to http://www.libertyassociates.com/errata21e2.htm and staple it to your book!

Summary: A great book! Teaches C++ one step at a time.
Review: I must say, I was pleasantly surprised when I started into this book. I found the pace exactly right for my knowledge and Jesse's explanations concise. Although I use OS/2 and the g++ GNU Public License compiler, I found no difficulty in applying the concepts from the book to my environment. I would heartily recommend this book to any person aspiring to the basics of C++

Summary: Jesse Liberty++
Review: As a Boston area native, I must commend you on listing 4.4 in Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days and the printed result. Go Sox! I am enrolled in the class with ZDNet, and so far so good. I really do enjoy the style of your book, especially considering the subject matter. I've had other programming classes before (years ago), but it seems that C++ is hard to break down into digestible "chunks". You've done a good job of presenting the information to a novice such as myself in a format that will stick in my brain--unlike the overload of ideas, information, and techniques which seemed to have clotted in the previous books on C++ (by different authors) that I have read. Great Job

Summary: Very talented teacher; difficult concepts grasped easily.
Review:

Strengths: Fast moving, delving into the heart of C++ cleanly and easily. Whereas other texts build laboriously, this book strikes quickly, effectively, and then moves to the next concept. Mr Liberty has a real talent at reducing difficult concepts such as "pointers" or "references" into manageable handles. The object of this book is to turn someone into a C++ programmer. I was really delighted to see this happen so swiftly and without drudging through the morass of endless details with no place to hang them.

Weaknesses: As in the other texts there are typos. At first I was alarmed, fearing I would mislearn something. But instead it turned around for me and caused me to think for myself and prove out every example.

If you want to wander through C++ buy a bunch of books; if you want to become a C++ programmer buy this one

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: very good study book
Review: This book is one of the best i have seen for learning C++ ..I would encourage anyone to buy it..Well worth the money. Don Brown.
