Rating: Summary: Excellence book Review: This book is outstanding. I used this book to upgrade my OCDBA8i to OCDBA9i.However, there are some minor typos in the book. But it still worth 5 stars
Rating: Summary: Great new features book! Review: This book really delivers on its promise. Each time Oracle has released a new database version, many DBAs would be looking for a good reference to summarize and explain the new features for that version, and how to use them. Until now, there has never really been a good reference for experienced DBAs to mull over. There was only a few, non-exhaustive references for 8i, even less for 8, and almost nothing for 7. Robert has done an excellent job in hitting the most important points for all the new features, showing us how to use them, and providing accurate, workable code and syntax. His style is lively, and keeps you interested, which is in direct contrast to Oracle documentation and many other books and articles, which are way too dry. This is a great book, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any experienced DBA that needs a succinct starting point on Oracle9i. Robert, can't wait to see what you do for 10i! :-)
Rating: Summary: Very Good Introduction to Oracle 9i Review: Very good book which clearly covers the main new features of 9i. One point, typo's in first half of book are annoying but do not stop concept being presented effectively. Lacking sections for use as a text for the 9i upgrade exam but this is not an exam guide and in that sense it's an excellent book as an intro. Fix the typo's and you may get 5 stars...
