Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is one great reference book - exam or not. Review: Since I started working with the beat process for Server+ I have tried to find books that take the exam part objective by objective and then give you the information you need. At the same time I also want a book that does more than spout out exam questions and answers this book seems to take care of these things. The book is broken down into seven parts with part 1 taking on the installation, environment topics. Part2 covers the RAID area very well and also the operating systems like Windows 2000, Netware and Unix. In part 3 is for the upgrade path for motherboards, hard drives, nics, ups and adapters. Part 4 is maintenance with backup, system monitoring and basic safety requirements. In part 5 you'll deal with security issues and different environmental issues like humidity, A/C and ventilation and filtration. Part 6 is the section I was most impressed with, troubleshooting from hardware to software and the techniques and the right diagnostic tools to use. Finally is part 7 Disaster recovery and what it takes to back up and restore. The book has a good pre-assessment questions and answer section with each chapter and the scenarios seems to reflect the normal work environment. Also include is a cd rom with hundreds of questions and the software is powered by Boson. Overall everything is here and the value seems fair.

The CD that accompanies this book is pretty straight forward with tons of practice questions as with any study guide CD. Form all of the study guides I have looked at this one I recommend because it is very exam focused and leaves out the unwanted babble.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Impressed Review: First off, let me say that i am overly impressed with the composition of this book. I will confirm some of the other comments that there are a few (but minor) technical erros in the writing of this book. However, I have yet to read a book (Non-fiction, fiction, tech) that does not have some sort of errors or misprints in it. I flipped ahead to the disaster recovery chapter, and I would have to disagree with the comment about Hackers, that one of other readers made. I have hacked my own NT servers to check for security flaws. I know a few hackers that also do this, and you know what??? They do not do any damage, they just want to see how good they are. I agree that most hackers have a moral code...how bad do you think things would get if they did not. ALl these worms and viruses are from those who have no ethics, they are not doing this to test skill, but to fullfill their own egos. Anyway, I have to wonder about some of the comments that nit picked this book. I have been hearing comments that authors of other books have been bashing other authors books, and that is what this looks like. IF the guy already knows all that stuff, then why read the book and study...seems odd to me. Anyway, i just want to let everyone know that i love this book so far. I am @ chapter 8, and moving fast. I love the test questions @ the end of each chapter. I am confident i will pass using this book GOod luck to all!!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good content and easy to read Review: This book was exactly what I needed. I already had a bit of experience and wanted to find out what the test covered and this book seemed to have it all. I really liked the practice test questions at the end of each chapter, they were not the traditional lousy one sentence type but great real world scenario questions. I recommend reading this book from Chapter 1 to the end Chapter because it has a really good flow and each chapter leads into the next. Good stuff, I'm impressed!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent questions for Server+ exam Review: I don't know why some of these other reviewers of this book and other books, nitpick about typo's and stuff like that, without even getting into the book and how it relates to the exam. It just wastes my time.. ANYWAY, I like how this book was very easy to read, and really stuck to the main points without boring you to death. The best part is the emphasis on the Exam objectives, and excellent scenario-based questions, which I have heard is like what the real exam is. Compared to some of the other books that i have read, this is the best so far.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Better then the rest Review: This book has been really good so far and a lot better then some of the other Server+ books I have looked into. I understand that this is the first print of the book so I did find a few minor issues in the text but nothing major that I would say would hurt your chances on passing the Server+ exam. Almost every other study guide I have has some sort of minor errors in it, it can only get better with every new print. I liked how I could find each objective marked out in each chapter, it makes it easier for me to study that way. Out of all the Server+ book out there this is the best.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent practice test questions and not a dry read Review: I am glad to read other peoples good reviews of this book. I purchased my copy in Mid July when it first came out and so far I think it's great. The best part of this book are the practice test questions. They are the best ones I have seen so far. This book is not "dry" like most study guides I've read but very easy to read and understand. The author really knows what the reader wants and gets to the point of what you need to know for the real Server+ exam.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: best of four Review: Author points out specific things to know for exam , but also conveys knowledge that is needed for work situations, of the four server+ books (microsoft, sybex, dummies and this book) i have read this is the best for studying points for the test. however i have not taken test yet. Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great book for the Server+ exam Review: I have read some pretty bad reviews of the other Server+ books, so I checked this one out. I am on chapter 11 and it has been really good. This book is not boring that is for sure. It has some really great tips about the real exam. The practice questions I find are not just one sentence questions but server based scenario questions with detailed answers...which always helps since the real exam is scenario based. I believe I will pass the real exam with this book because the information is very exam oriented. I wish my other study guides I have purchased for other exams were like this because this book is straight forward and to the point.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Good Book, but don't rely only on this book to pass!! Review: I pass the Server+ on June 25 th 2004 with a 83. When I was researching for a Server+ book I choose this book because of the good reviews I Read. It is a great reference book although it's a bite out date in some areas. I am satisfied though, because there were a lot things that were knew for me in this book. But my best advice is that if you going to buy this book use some secondary source such as a practice test, depending on you expertise. That way you might get more up to date questions. I'm an Undergrad Bachelors Student. With the use of the Server+ Bible book and Transcender practice test, I passed. The practice test was $119,- Its costly but if you don't want to pay another $200,- to retake the Server+, its best to be prepared. From since I failed one of my MCSE test because I relied only on one source of martial to prepared for the test, I've always consider at least two resources. The combination of a book and practice test has always been helpful in passing certifications for me. One good thing I have found useful in using two resources is that when you use the practice test and you get a question concerning a martial that you're not too familiar with. You can always go back to the book for reference in the areas that you're weak in. Currently holds A+, Network+, MCP, CNA, Linux+, Server+ http://www.transcender.com/
