Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: This Book and Real-World Experience Will Help You Pass Review: I think this book is great. It helped me pass the Server+ exam today (10/22/2002) with 860 out of 1,000 (passing is 750). I know I wouldn't have passed this test without the book and my 11 years of computer experience. Just remember to work quickly since you've got 90 minutes to answer 80 questions! The practice exams on CD-ROM weren't that great though. There were some pretty glaring errors in some of the answers.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Put this one on your list for sure Review: Put the Server+ Certification Bible on your list for sure. I found it to be the best one on the market. Of course a book can only teach you so much, so make sure you have some real world experience before going into this exam. The Server+ exam is a challenge, but is passable:) This book is a must read before going into this exam. It will help you out in a major way. It did for me :) Good luck!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Nice but needs supplement. Review: This book covers most of the server technology but should be supplemented with experience and a second reference source. The questions offered at the end of each chapter are simplistic compared to the actual questions posed by CompTIA. I passed the Server+ test using this book, my Network+ knowledge, some hands on experience, and by referencing anything only vaguely covered in the book on the Internet. BOOK LAYOUT The chapters are short and well organized. Most chapters are approximately 25 pages and contain a simple question set at the end. The book is easy to read and does not inundate the reader with acronyms that force him/her to constantly cross reference earlier chapters. MINOR GRIPES The author seems to take for granted that the reader knows what most of the network and PC technology looks like, as he does not provide pictures of any of it. It would have been nice to see what the end of a Very High Density 68 pin SCSI connector looks like compared to a High Density 68 pin connector. As I mentioned earlier, the end of chapter questions are very simplistic and will NOT prepare you to take the real test. EXTRA MATERIALS WITH BOOK The book comes with testing software, freeware and shareware networking programs, and PDF files of the book. OVERALL The book covers a range of topics about server technology but fails to deliver any advanced material. That said, any Server+ candidate should begin with this book, reinforce the SCSI, RAID, BIOS, and IRQ sections with secondary reference materials to ensure they are ready.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Very exam focused Review: I was amazed at how this book was so exam focused. The exam objectives were present throughout each section along with dozens and dozens of exam tips. This book was definitely one of the best resources I had for this exam.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A must have! Review: If your studying for the Server+ exam, this book is a must have! I used one of the other text books when I took the exam for the first time and I didn't pass. I picked up the Server+ Bible as my second resource and last hope at passing this exam and as of September 10th 2002 I became Server+ certified. What a difference this book made!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Good book.........but be careful! Review: I bought this book based on it's excellent on-line rating and after breifly reviewing it against the numerous other Server+ books that are available. The book is very easy to pick up and read, unlike a lot of other cert. books out there. The topics are organized fairly well, although there is some unnecessary overlap. In addition, there are only a few errors in the book, i.e. grammatical, answers to review questions numbered wrong, etc. My only major complaint about the book, and the reason I only gave it 4 stars, is that it is not thorough enough! There is a good deal of information that is needed for the Server+ test that is missing from the book. It just does not go into enough detail. I think that part of the reason for this is due to the fact that the author tends to take too much time explaining very basic facts to kind of ease the reader into the meatier aspects. Unfortunately, this tends to make the book a bit verbose and slightly lacking in the substance department. Although I passed the Server+ exam using only this book and a few other practice tests, I can truly say that were it not for my previous knowledge and having already aquired my Network+ cert, I would have done considerably worse. I would seriously caution someone against using only this book if they had little to no server/networking experience. There is that much stuff on the exam that definitely was not covered in this book. Overall, I would recommend this book for it's easy reading and the low number of errors present. However, I would strongly suggest supplementing this book with another resource to ensure that you have all the information you need to pass the exam.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not enough to pass Review: The Server+ Bible gies an excellent overview of the topics covered on the CompTIA Server+ exam; however, you will need more than this book to pass the exam. The exam questions are scenario-based, so you'll need to know how to integrate all the topics covered in this book. Most of the end-of-chapter questions are much easier than what you will see on the exam. You may want to really focus on the scenario questions provided at the end of each chapter. You can never know enough about SCSI for this test, so supplement this book with research on SCSI devices.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Absolutely the Best! Review: I spent a month reading this book, and it's definitely the best out there and was the main reason I passed the exam. I own two other books and by far the Server+ Bible stands out way ahead. Using the book will help anyone pass. I fully recommend it!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: full of mistakes Review: this book is FULL of mistakes. not the simple typos or grammatical errors that other reviews mention, but quite often getting the basic concepts incorrect. STAY AWAY from this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Super! Review: I wish I had this book a few months ago when I was studying for my first attempt at this exam. I failed the first time using the Sybex book. But after I decided not to let this exam beat me I got this book and WOW did it ever make a difference and I passed with flying colors. I fully recommend this book for this tough exam - Gary Gargaro
