Rating: Summary: Very good, if badly written Review: I purchased chris / trish's first book (creating motion graphics with after effects), exellent book! You'd be hard pressed to find a better book.. So, as soon as this book came out I purchased it. Huge disapointment.. This book is full of tutorials / tips / tricks that almost no one would ever need to know... Not too much info, lot's of fat..

Rating: Summary: Simply, a great book Review: I recently started using aAfter Effects 5.5 and needed a quick intro to using the program. I bought 2 books to get me started. This book and the After Effects Bible. I think I learned more from the first three chapters from After Effects in Production than all of the other book combined. While the Bible book was not bad, it just didn't inspire me as this book had. I am a new user to After Effects, but I've had some experience with Photoshop and Premiere. Since these are all Adobe products, maybe some of the concepts were familiar to me. The examples and projects used in this book were great. Not just some dopey idea to show how to use one of the effects, but examples that really are interesting and fun. This book would benefit ANYONE using After Effects. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book, helpful customer service Review: I upgraded my system to OSX recently and their customer service was very helpful in supplying me with the upgraded plugins at no charge. The book has been extremely useful cover to cover. The authors have in-depth grasp of AE and relay their knowledge in clear, concise manner. I've recommended it to my colleagues.

Rating: Summary: Best After Effects Tutorial Book Hands Down Review: I've learned After Effects for the series of Chris and Trish Myers books. I taught myself and am considered the "expert" at my school in After Effects after only 1 year. If you know the basics of After Effects this book will take you to a whole new level. The tutorials are easy to follow and the sidebar notes throughout the book will make the difference between being a novice to having a real working knowledge of the program. If you go through this book I also recommend Volume 2 of Advanced Techniques.

Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: Many users among the cow forums ask which books are the best to get if one wants to learn after effects. The answer nearly always contains at least one (if not both) of the meyers books in the list (Classroom In a Book, Creating Motion Graphics, AE Production usually in that order). This book contains nothing but projects. What's nice about the book is not that the projects are complex (some of them are very simple), it's the steps it takes in building. The author(s) go out of their way to show you different techniques for accomplishing the same thing, pointing out flaws, sometimes bugs in the software, workarounds, techniques and whatever else along the way. They are also very good about keeping the AE 4.1 users in mind, always offering the alternate commands in parenthesis. It is for intermediate to advanced users who want to take their AE skills to the next level.
