Rating: Summary: A little thick, but gets the job done Review: A novice may have difficulty navigating this book, but once you get a basic understanding of Access2k and development with Access2k, this book becomes an invaluable resource. Still, a little dry. Reading through some of the examples is a tedious affair, but the enormous wealth of information provided by the book makes up for that shortcoming. Not for newcomers, and i'm also tempted to say the book's not for intermediate-level Access users. But if you've got the experience and you need the information, this book is the unqualified resource for Access development.

Rating: Summary: Valuable Resource for Access Development Review: As a small developer, my resources for materials is somewhat limited among the thousands available. I have found the Developer's Handbook(s) from Sybex to be valuable in my daily development. They are written so that beginning chapters are easily understand even by beginning developers and continue on with a wealth of reference for the most advanced. With these books, I can honestly say that I have not yet found any programming problem I cannot solve.
Rating: Summary: A must have for MsAccess programmers Review: Daily employed subjects, very good explaineds and an useful INDEX to found what you need. That is aplicable to the whole serie "Access xxx Developer's Handbook". I own all of them!. The best book about MsAccess.
Rating: Summary: Get Access 97 if you can Review: Don't get me wrong, I live by their books. Only complain I have is that in Access 2000, they sort of lost the magic. Access 97 was inspirational for me. They show you how to do things. Unfortunately in 2000 and on, they rely on class module. Import this into you project and voila, you don't have to know how it works. I like to write my own codes, and would rather have them show me how its done.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely essential for professional developers Review: From Access 2 onward the Developer's Handbook series has proven indispensable. With thorough, clear presentations of essential details, excellent comparisons of previous verions to the newest version, genuinely useful examples (I've imported dozens into my projects), and plenty of advanced developer-oriented material, ADH is simply a must-have set. As a professional developer, you should have have at least three such guides in your library. Access Developer's Handbook should absolutely be one of them. If you can only afford one, make it ADH.
Rating: Summary: Comprehensive and practical Review: Having tried several books on MS Access 2000, this is the first to solve my problems. The two volumes are organized in a theme-based fashion, heavily oriented around the numerous ready-to-use code examples, few of which you will find elsewhere. The sheer amount of specific information is overwhelming, making some parts of the book somewhat hard to follow. Still, this is more than anything else a sign of excellence and expertise. The language is clear and reads easily. I recommend this book for anyone doing serious programming with MS Access.
Rating: Summary: Paid for themselves in a day Review: I am a software developer and have been in business since 1982. I have never gotten more bank for my buck than with these books. I didn't think Access was worth a flip for program development until I bought these books. I have since developed a vertical market package for the seafood industry that sells itself by demo. Thanks Ken, Paul and Mike.
Rating: Summary: Great for database students Review: I bought the Volume 1: Desktop Edition during my second semister of Access at JSRCC. The first 5 chapters helped me get an "A" in the class. Chapter 5 Access SQL is Great, giving me a lot of help with my Oracle class that I am taking know. Any database student should have this book.
Rating: Summary: A Must !! Review: I have found this book to be brilliant, coming from Access 97 development, this book helps with the transition from DAO to ADO. Plenty of examples and demos. The best I've read so far!!
