Rating: Summary: Not the best out there, but still pretty good! Review: After buying Pokemon Ruby, I went to Best Buy looking for this guide--after hearing nothing but great reviews from amazon.com. After some careful examining, I ended up buying the official Nintendo one--it just has more features and the only thing that it is lacking is trainer rosters, which neither has. I am not saying that this is a bad guide, I am only saying that it is second best. If you want the best, go Nintendo!!

Rating: Summary: Nintendo's is more detailed- but I destroyed my copy Review: Because of a special deal, I got the Nintendo Player's Guide with my copy of Sapphire. I used that thing so much it's falling apart, so I recently bought Prima's guide. Surprisingly, Prima decided not to include the layout of each individual Trick House (Nintendo did.) Also, the layout of Flannery's gym is not labeled, so it can take awhile just to get to her. Nintendo tells which holes take you to which spot. The maps are small, which does make them hard to use in certain locations. Despite claims, it does not list all secret bases or have opponent trainer rosters (just for gym leaders/rivals.) Prima also fails to note which trainers are Trainer's Eyes trainers who demand rematches, so finding these trainers for rematches is harder- once again, this is something that Nintendo does. Despite all of this, it's still a handy guide to have while exploring the land of Hoenn and trying to beat the gym leaders. I would recommend Nintendo's, but the Nintendo guide could fall apart on you! This is a respectable guide and I would suggest picking it up.
Rating: Summary: Very good and detailed... Review: Cons: -Fully detailed maps that tell where trainers are, which trainers will be added to your Trainer's Eye, items, and sometimes a number. When you see a number on the map, there will be another number somewhere on the page that tells you what to do there (or what happens, etc.) -Tells where to find items,tm's and hm's,rare and common pokemon, how and when pokemon evolve, the abilities, attack and tm and hm moves they can learn, as well as "egg moves". -Complete walkthrough of the game, as well as little side quests such as catching Rayquaza. -Shows every move's damage, accuracy, pp, and effects, as well as what they do in pokemon contests. Cons: -Some ability summaries aren't specific. (This one might not be a con to some)-It doesn't tell how to catch the Regi pokemon, instead, it just has the braille alphabet to help. -At first, the part of the guide that shows you when pokemon evolve and when they learn moves MIGHT seem complicated... Overall:5 stars, it's worth it!
Rating: Summary: Stick with Nintendo Review: Don't believe what you read about the Prima guide being the only one with a Pokédex. Nintendo's version of the Ruby/Sapphire strategy guide includes a complete Pokédex and more information than you can imagine. Sometimes the Prima guide is better, but if you are getting a game for a Nintendo system, I'd suggest at least looking at their game guide first before even considering any other.
Rating: Summary: Very Good, But I Own Better Review: I actually own the official Nintendo Power one and not the Prima one, but my neighbor/friend owns the Prima one and I read both about equally. The Prima guide is very good; it has a great pokedex, walkthough, item list, and some other things. The main reason that I bought the official guide is because I've had a bad past with Prima (i.e. starting a sentance and never finishing it in the whole entire guide). This one only has one mistake that I could find and it isn't very major. The mistake was that they say that Wumple evolves depending on the time of day. This isn't true, because Wurmple's evolution is random. The back of the book is a bit decieving, but isn't a lie. The back says that the guide gives you the locations of every Secret Base. The guide doesn't point out the secret bases, rather it simply has maps of every location in the game and the maps include the secret bases. Prima is a very good strategy guide, but I would recommend Nintendo Power's. They're almost equal, but I personally just like Nintendo's layout and wording better.
Rating: Summary: Amazing strategy guide... Review: I am someone who rarely writes reviews for any items but for this one I'll make an exception. I got the sapphire pokemon game imported and since I knew little about the new pokemon within the game, I needed a really good strategy guide. Comparing with Marcus' guide, Hollinger will not disappoint! It has complete walkthrough with pictures to help you. A complete pokedex with suggestions (Marcus does not have this!) and separate areas for those wanting to go through contests and building pokeblocks. Overall, this guide is brillant - giving help and aid to the beginner and to the experienced pokemon player. You will NOT be disappointed..an absolute must for any pokemon fan! (comes with a cool poster featuring all the new pokemon!)
Rating: Summary: A Pretty Good Guide Review: I bought this guide not a long time ago and I have to admit, it's really good. It has a map of almost all areas in the game, a Pokedex at the end, and some helpful tips, too. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a couple mistakes in the Pokedex and missing items in the maps.
Rating: Summary: Guide Is A Good Choice, But It Isn't The Best Review: I do not own the guide, but my friend does. He got through half the game without the guide. In his words - "The guide is a good choice, but it isn't the best possible." The guide only helps those Pokemon trainers who search for rare Pokemon, and if they are stuck in a part of the game. I say yay, but if you are a pro at most Pokemon games, don't spend the money on the guide.
Rating: Summary: this is good Review: I have this book and sometimes I have a hard time find where to go but other than that it is a great to have to help you in your quest to be a Pokemon Master GOTTA CATCH EM ALL Good luck future masters of pokemon
