Summary: An excellent system administration book but too expensive.
Review: I have to give this book 4 stars just because it is simply too expensive, US$65! But this book really goes into detail in explaining various kinds of Unix environments. If you can master everything said and taught in this book, you are gonna be one of the best Unix system administrators on earth. I used this book for my System Administration course and I had hard time understanding some of the practical examples that could only be seen if you are an Unix system administrator yourself already.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Simply the best book on UNIX system administration.
Review: This is the rare book that will be as useful to you in five years as it is now. The authors clearly speak from hard-won experience - if you take their advice you'll be able to avoid many pitfalls with hardware, software, and policy. Much more informative than Aeleen Frisch's _Essential Unix System Administration_, even though it takes up less space on your bookshelf and doesn't have a cute animal on the cover! (Frisch's book is good, mind, but this is a classic.) Don't be put off by the price - I know most bundled CDs are worthless, but this one is indispensible. Finally, author Evi Nemeth is a babe, and her picture should be hung in every machine room.

Summary: Good News/Bad News
Review: Okay, so it hasn't been revised in over 3 years and counting, and though it masterfully covers variations between different Unixes, it breathes not a word about the then-obscure and unproven Linux. That said, it's that rare thing: an indispensible, psychic, uncannily useful Unix book not published by O'Reilly. Still, one hopes there's a new edition in the works. There will be (geeky, spastic) dancing in the server rooms.

Summary: NOT WORTH IT! DONT BUY THIS
Review: I was pretty new at linux when I ordered this and I read it after I read these 2 great books "Running Linux" and "Red-Hat Unleashed". Simply put this was horible! especialy since it costs $65!!! DONT BUY THIS!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very good book
Review: The book is very good in its depth of coverage, thoroughness, and applications. There's even humor in more boring chapters! The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because $65 is a little too steep, even for a good book such as this one.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The first book one should buy to be a Systems Administartors
Review: takes you step by step to do whatever task that you wnat to do (example: adding a disk) and does a great job of it. One book that every unix administartors must have.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best book on System Administration available
Review: When I started my job as a sysadmin, I had NO CLUE as to what I was doing. Nemeth's book was the only thing I had to work off of, and now I'm monving on up in the world. Honestly, this book saved my life a couple of times. For the price, though, this book should come with a tshirt! Other than that, I found it to be leaps and bounds better than the piecemeal O'Reilly book on the same topic!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Well worth the cost ....all in one reference !
Review: I searched for the best resource book I could find on Unix.......this book is well planned and the index is logically referenced by the file names. This is the only book you'll need on Unix!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Overpriced...
Review: You can find everything it has(and more)in AEleen Frisch's book, which is much cheaper than this one. Good book on Unix administration though.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: lots of topics but superficial
Review: Some topics are great but lots of them are simply skimmed over. Also, the CD is overpriced
