Summary: This book gives a false sense of preparation and security
Review: I, like most people, bought this book to help me pass both A+ tests. I figured I couldn't go wrong with a Dummies book. I read it cover to cover. I followed Ron Glister's study tips. I aced the chapter reviews quizzes, self-assessment quizzes and the CD-ROM tests. I scored an 1,017 out of 1000 on one of test on the CD-ROM. Right there something wasn't kosher with the disk. About half the questions on the CD-ROM test where about acronyms (i.e. What does BIOS stand for?) and basic computer trivial knowledge (i.e. Which processor had the first math coprocessor?) That little goofy instant answer mascot said that question would definitely be on the test. I took the test and failed. No acronym questions. No trivial questions. Just beyond basic knowledge of computer components, which this book DID NOT touch on. Thank goodness I registered to take the A+ Core test only.

Summary: Excellent Book!
Review: This book is very well written and in plain language. There's no overuse of technical jargon to confuse the novice. The authors do a very good job of cutting away the fat and giving you the information you need in an understanable format.

Summary: You can pass with this Book!
Review: Very Easy to follow, Right to the point! No Unnecessary material to scare you or give you a Headache. Buy yourself a Highlighter pen with this book.

I passed the A+ thanks to this Book.

Summary: Good for the DOS/Windows portion, lacking on the core test
Review: This book will help a lot on the Dos/windows part of the test, but don't depend on it alone for the core test. I didn't find many questions on the core test that were covered in the book. It's easy to read and understand, and worth the price.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Easy to read, but lacking content!
Review: This book was a good overall review, but I felt it did not prepare me for the actual test. There were many areas on the A+ test that this book did not cover. I passed the test on my first try, with an 80% on the Win/Dos and an 85% on the Core module, but my main comprehension came from another source. The areas this bood did cover were a great review, but if you need to understand the whole picture, I recommend you buy another study guide.

I feel this book is a good investment, but only if you are planning on studying out of another study guide as well. Don't put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak.

Summary: This Book is ALL you will NEED
Review: I've been working with computers for a while, this is the only book i used for preparing for my A+ and passed both in the 80's although the pratice tests on the cd rom had some incorrect answers i still gave this book a 5!!! I'ts the only book you need for the A+; the author does a great job at making you read the important stuff over again in different ways (irq's). heres a tip; make sure you know laser printers, my test had 7 questions on them. And one last thing! Don't Be Fool, This is All you need to pass the A+ exams!!!!!

Summary: Read-ability!
Review: I've read and studied several different books over the last few months, including my PC Hardware Troubleshooting text book and the Mindworks study guide. Reading them was like plowing an asphalt parking lot! (Sorry -- I live in the country.) This book is just plain easy to read - and that's what separates it from the others. There always seem to be discrepancies between the different sources, and I've found myself questioning this one a bit. BUT - I've read 150 pages in the last 2 days without nodding off once! And am looking forward to getting home so I can read some more! Unbelievable! And - as other reviewers have said, he gets to the point about what'll be on the test and what won't. Invaluable.

Summary: Right on the money for the A+ Exams
Review: This book was the only one I used to prepare for the A+ exams, which I passed without problems. The book is well-organized and to the point and gave me just the topics I needed and just enough information on each for the tests. The icons focused my last minute studies and the cheat sheet was really helpful. I recommend this book to anyone preparing to take the A+ exams, experienced or not.

Summary: Easy reading, but lack of info
Review: The A+ for Dummies really was an easy reading book, but you might say too easy. The book contained alot of lacking information needed for the exam. The CD enclosed with the book contained many flaws, giving the Dummy reader some very bad insight if not at least ending up doubting himself. If you wanted to learn a little about computers read this book, If you want to pass the A+ exam read Exam Cram.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: You must have additional tests to pass the test.
Review: This book does not prepare you for the test, althouh is an excellent piece for somebody who is a real dummy for that stuff. Must have New Raider's stuf and something else..To start with that one is fine but...what?? Still worth buying.
