Summary: The worst book that i have ever brought
Review: 1)I logon as BCUSER which the MiniSAP suggested for learning purpose. I followed the book until page 21(Figure 2.12),i got message: NO CHANGES ON SAP OBJECTS ALLOWED. I can not even finish the 'Hello World' program.The message comes out even I just want to write a new program. Look like something wrong with the setting of User Permit.2) Then I tried to look into their Help File which I MUST re-insert the installation CD. My god, the answer is mixed with English and German(i guess, but I am sure it is not english). But the book is english version. Isn't it ridicules?

Summary: Very useful
Review: A good introduction to ABAP objects. Explained the usage of objects a whole lot better than the online documentation.
The earlier chapters are very general though and could have been crisper.

Summary: A good starting point to learn OO!
Review: As a functional consultants, I've been learning ABAP all the time in order to understand the logic deeper and debug the program to find out the underneath truth and discover the errors. However, when SAP introduced the object oriented ABAP I was totally lost. And I choose this book as a guide to learn ABAP OO, after going through all the chapters and examples I am getting to understand OO much better now. The attached CDs are not only useful to learn object oriented coding, I also utilize it to learn workflow by myself. It's a nice book as a starting point to learn ABAP OO!

Summary: Software included (minisap) does not work with XP?!
Review: Book seems to be all right at first!
The software that comes along with the book, does not work with windows-xp if xp has all of the latest upgrades and patches from microsoft!?!!?.
The so called "Object list" will not show!
There are patches available for MiniSAP to cure this problem, but it is impossible to get the patches to minisap witout a licence, and you don't get a licence along with minisap!!!!???? What a waste off money and time! I should have read these reviews before buying the useless book and software! Shame on the SAP comunity and on the authors of this book!!! Amazon.com should warn buy'ers with "up to date XP" on their computer!

Summary: Excelente Ferramenta para aprendizado em ABAP e OOP
Review: Comprei este livro no escuro sem saber o conteúdo dele e somente lendo os comentários das pessoas por aqui.
Eu não me arrependo de nada e pra mim foi uma excelente compra.
Com os CDs do MINSAP (versão 4.6d), que vem com este livro, é um salto enorme no aprendizado em ABAP. Com ele vc faz praticamente tudo em ABAP.
Eu recomendo este livro para as pessoas que fizeram a Academia ABAP e que desejam aperfeiçoar sua técnica em ABAP com a OOP.
Este livro é um tesouro e espero que os autores possam publicar mais sobre as novas releases do SAP.

Com este livro você pode aprender mais e mais sobre o ABAP juntamente com a técnica de OOP além de outras coisas mais.
O CD que vem junto com o livro é um verdadeiro tesouro para quem não tem acesso ao SAP para praticar e estudar.
Eu recomento este livro para todos os ABAPEIROS que estão iniciando e desejam melhorar mais e mais suas técnicas de programação.

Summary: Good for both beginers and intermediates
Review: I bought this book with no ideas in SAP. Although I have a technical background SAP was really new to me. This book also seemed to be undecipherable to me. But as soon as I started going through it and worked out on the example programs everything started clearing up. So this book is really helpful to anyone who "wants to learn SAP". But I strongly reccomend the online dictionary for reference and the example programs for practice if you want to make the best out of this book. Overall a good book for any beginner-intermediate.

Set aside coupla months and enjoy the ride. The cool thing abt this book is the ability to tryout the abap programs. I DID HAVE PROBLEMS!!!
1)installing the CDs. I am using Windows XP and had coupla glitches.
1) you should add the ip address and computer name to the /etc/hosts file on your computer. It can be found in the system32 folder.
2) You probably need to copy the contents of the Data CD(2) to hard disk (incase you dont have 2 CD drives. And specify the location of the data files during instalation. 2) Problem creating Objects: I did have problems creating Objects..It was frustrating for a while. Then I figured out the solution after some online research.
a) Try to apply the patch then comes with the CD.
b) renaming my files to start with z_ solved the problem

Summary: Good Book... but you have some troubles for Win XP
Review: I Liked this book. But I had some troubles to install it fully operation at Windows XP (at Windows 2000 worked fine).
