Summary: Don't leave home without it...
Review: I have traveled to over 7 countries for the purpose of Active Directory migration and this one has been on all of them. The format, like all O'Reilly Cookbooks, is perfect for quikly referencing the information needed and getting back to the business of solving problems. Robbie Allen clearly explains the "here's how", "here's why", and "here's another way" of Active Directory administration. This book is a "must have" for any individual that will be working with Microsoft Directory Services on a frequent basis.

Summary: Wonderful Book!
Review: I purchased my copy of the AD Cookbook last week from my local book shop. I just happened to find it as I was not looking for anything in particular but this caught my eye. It has not disappointed. Spent the first evening going thru all the vbs examples. Love how it has the web site so that you can cut and paste vbs examples. I've been dealing with Active Directory for over two years now and have done more than my share of scripts in that time. I've already added numerous snipets from this book. The recipe format is great in that it presents a 'problem' and then shows multiple ways of solving that problem using GUI, command line and scripting examples. This will be one of the few technical books that I read cover to cover. Yet the book will still remain on my book shelf afterwards for day to day examples.

I consider this a must have book and would be a good book for any range of experience, from beginner to advanced.

Summary: A little over my head (for now), but a great book.
Review: I was in a little over my head when I started reading this book, but I would rather spend the time understanding something that will increase my knowledge significantly. A good book for the examples, but I got a little lost in all of the terminalogy.

Summary: This book should be next to your desktop
Review: If you are an AD administrator with 10,000+ users this book is for you. The scripts provided can very well be tailored to suit your needs. The book deals with the day to day issues you will face while running a real AD. Definitely worth the money.

Summary: Definitely a must have for sysadmins
Review: If you work with Active Directory in a corporate environment, you need this book. With more than 200 entries, you can look up virtually any administrative task and see how to perform it from the GUI, from the command-line, and using a custom script designed by the author. Awesome!!!

Summary: AD Administrator Must Have
Review: Like the best cookbooks, this AD cookbook goes beyond the crowd pleasing recipes to provide a more in-depth discussion and review of the technology being covered. Even if you do not script your environment, you will learn far more about the AD than you would from Microsoft's offerings. Great job Robbie Allen! Keep them coming ...

Summary: A must for an AD Admin's library
Review: Lots of examples, vbcode and recipes to get simple things done.

Summary: A *must* have for Active Directory Admins
Review: Received my very own copy of Mr. Robbie Allen's "Tuna" book last night from Amazon.com - in the first night's reading the book is already proving it's worth as I see how to do certain things much simpler than I had done them before (with regards to the VBScripts included), as well as learn new things I didn't realize could be done (in both AD2K and AD2K3). The book will be very handy as I continue to stand up my new Windows 2003 domain.

It's a worthwhile addition to your Active Directory library.

Summary: Scripts gallore, Active Directory Mastered!
Review: Robbie does it again. If you're looking for a book to assist you in managing AD with scripts, this is it. He once again writes a complete book with technical knowledge and practical application too. After you read his book, e-mail him reqeusting his scripts in electronic form so you won't have to write them manually. Almost all tasks are covered with scripts in VBS, Perl and WMI technologies are covered too. He also enumerates command line entries to execute the same function in case you don't want to "script" it.

Buy this book - it's awesome.

Summary: A great desktop reference
Review: Robbie's book is a great reference for anyone who has the responsibility of managing an Active Directory environment. The multiple examples and clear structure make this book very resourceful.
