Summary: Utterly fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This is the definitive book on PERL. You will learn something from every page. No filler here, just rock solid information. This book treats the reader as seasoned technical professional wanting to gain a competitive advantage in his career by mastering a remarkable technology. And that is exactly what you will say about PERL after spending some time with this book. Any technical feat will seem possible. This book will help you internalize the material quickly, correctly and efficiently. There are no other books on the market if you are serious about PERL as far as I am concerned.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best books on any programming language
Review: This is definitely one of the best programming books I've ever read. It's very useful to learn the language (well-written in an early-90s underground-programmer style) and it's also great as a reference once you know the language too.

Summary: Must Own
Review: If you are trying to Learn Perl get Learning Perl, But if you already know it YOU MUST have this book. I write perl for a Living and this book never leaves my desk

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not for the Perl Beginner
Review: This book is a good reference if you really know what you are doing in Perl and want to just look up particulars on a specific function in perl, but it really bites when you are tyring to use it to answer any question like "How do I do ____ in Perl?" It reminded me of the age old question. If you can't spell a word, how do you look it up in the dictionary? I must say that the included brochure reference guide is a very good thing.

Summary: top notch reference
Review: great reference manual...it is all there, everything you need to know, if you can't find it, you don't know enough about perl to even be looking for it i would suggest the learning perl book for beginners though.

Summary: Better than sliced bread!
Review: After having chugged along writing simple Perl scripts using various other sources, I finally bought this book. I wish I had owned it from day one, in 15 minutes I saved a script from the delete button, and justified the cost. Bravo Zulu

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best in PERL
Review: I've seen many (and owned some) other Perl books, and they don't even compete with this one. Don't even consider other Perl books, except perhaps other Perl books in the O'Reilly line.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: VERY advanced
Review: I would only recommend this to people with quite an extensive knowledge of perl already

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderful as a reference, REALLY obscure as a tutorial
Review: This is a great reference book if you know Perl, but as an introduction I'd recommend Learning Perl instead.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: reference for perl users....
Review: I have both the first (perl 4) and second editions (perl 5) of the camel book. As a reference, it is the bible. This is why I'm never without it. But this assumed a degree of understanding with it. The previous version had sections of good, powerful, and even useful examples. Without these, I find this version lacking.
