Rating: Summary: Not the best choice for photographers Review: If you're looking for a book that is aimed at photographers, or if you're looking for an understanding of the "whys" of working with digital images, this is not the book for you. It consists of a series of cookbook exercises that help you learn how to use photoshop, but once you're beyond the obvious you need to supply your own understanding of why you're doing something. The book doesn't help much with developing a foundation for your own ideas of how to work with Photoshop either. It might be a more useful book if you're an experienced graphic arts person and you're moving from physical to electronic work.Instead I'd recommend Photoshop 7.0 for Photographers, by Martin Evening or Photoshop 7 Artistry, by Barry Haynes and Wendy Crumpler.

Rating: Summary: SOLID PHOTOSHOP BRIDGE FOR BEGINNERS AND INTERMEDIATES Review: Just like its name indicated, this book is by every means a true classroom in a book. Its coverage is extensive; and includes all the new tools and features of the software. Both Mac and PC users will find detailed narrations, which took care of their respective platforms vis-a-vis the Photoshop 7.0. Beginners would enjoy its step-by-step guide, while intermediate and advanced learners would appreciate the spectacular design tips that its CD-ROM offers. Every aspect of the software was highlighted: including all those image-editing and tone-enhancing features. First-time Photoshop users would cherish how this book simplified the Advanced Web Workflow of the software, including all the compliance, integration, and flexibilities of the image management system. Other than being too simple and straightforward, there is hardly anything to accuse this book of. Hence, I will advise all the graphics geeks, who wouldn't stomach its elementary methodology, to check-out more advanced texts like: QUE'S Special Edition of "Using Photoshop 7".
Rating: Summary: Didn't think this book would be so much fun!!! Review: The Adobe Creative Team has somehow managed to make something that would appear to be a dry, sort of "how-to" type book into a fun little instructional romp! I REALLY enjoyed this book from front to back cover, as well as everything in between. Here's a few things I found myself exclaiming after completion of this book: This is a deliciously wicked step-by-step expose of Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and what makes it tick! WOW! A masterpiece and flawless achievement from the Adobe Creative Team! Thanks go out to the Adobe Creative Team. I doubt I'd ever upgrade, even if a superior version (say, Adobe Photoshop 8.0) emerged in the future. I have met my match--and I'm going to be faithful, thank you very much!
Rating: Summary: It's really great! But... Review: The book is a very good, but I hated the order of the chapters. I think that selections and layers should be in the begining of the book, not after Retouch.
Rating: Summary: Adobe Photoshop 7 in a book Review: There are a long list of these "classrooms in a book" things. I don't think this is the best source for Photoshop 7, but it was required by a class I took. I really think the best book of this nature is The Photoshop Bible (did 7 come out yet?). I think their examples of what they have you work through are more practical AND thorough. They are also just more complete in general.
Rating: Summary: Great 4 A Beginner Review: This book is a fantastic start for anyone that wishes to explore the world of Photoshop. I took a course at Oklahoma City Community College last semester and this is the book that we used. We followed the book step-by-step. I could have just bought the book and and stayed at home and saved myself some money. Only buy this book if you are an absolute beginner at Photoshop, though. The book is not very in-depth. It just tells you how to do something, not why you are doing it. Also, I have noticed that the pages aren't binded very well...I had a page or two just fall out of my book.
