Rating: Summary: You won't Be Sorry....... Review: A few months ago I purchased 50 Fast Digital Photo Techniques which came with a trial version of Elements. After playing with this for a month I ordered the whole program...(yes, all from Amazon) This was a good introduction and I had hit the floor running but, was looking for something a little more specific and comprehensive...This book hit the mark!!!! Very basic it starts at square one and with no wasted words walks you through all of the basics in an easy to understand manner. One feature I particularly appreciated was the photos of the actual menus that were being talked about on each page. I sat down and read it straight through in less than a weeks time (a record for me) I could hardly wait to get to the computer and start working on my photos. Since I already knew some of the basics I zeroed in on what I didn't know or understand. I already feel like a pro, after just a few hours, although I know I have just begun!!!...I learn more each time I sit down and start playing...have read the reviews tonight on some of the other books for beginning Elements users...Don't waste your money there...This book will do it for you...Heavy shiny pages, with gorgeous color examples, large text...just a pleasure all the way around.
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING and BEAUTIFUL book! Review: After much research, I decided to buy this book to go along with my new PhotoShop Elements [PSE] and I am glad that I did. Be advised--the manual that comes with PSE is pretty ..., BUT THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL! Nearly EVERY PAGE has COLOR illustrations! And clear and concise explanations of the many uses for PSE and how to achieve them. The author begins with an illustrated explanation of digital images, how they are made and what factors contribute to quality. Then comes a SENSIBLE PROGRESSION into the delights of PSE. Each well stocked chapter is COLOR CODED on the top edge of the page. (Which I found very helpful. "Now where was that illustration..oh yeah, the purple section.." There are arrows on the illustrations that guide you as well. Midtones? Voila! An arrow points to midtones. Shadow? Bingo! Arrow! Definite instructions on how to obtain a certain enhancement AND the color illustrations work so well together! Every section and chapter is packed FULL of illustrations and instructions. (Remember nearly every page has gorgeous illustrations!)I'm telling you, it doesn't get much better than this! Or does it?? Oh yes it does!! .... ..... .... .... .... I'm one of those people that has to read AND try a new skill. If you are too, THIS is the BOOK for you! There are even printable lesson plans at the website for the teachers, and great links as well as updates. What did I tell you?? It DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER than this!! Clear, concise explanations, COLOR illustrations, arrows!, diagrams! Circles around important parts of the illustrations AND a website to "practice" with?? I'm telling you, this is THE BOOK!! Buy it and you won't be disappointed. I'm a happy camper.
Rating: Summary: This is the one ! Review: Anyone attempting to use Adobe Photoshop Elements on their own without this book is wasting time and making a BIG mistake! This book is so well written and easy to understand that Adobe should consider replacing their manual included with the software with a copy of this book. This is definitely the one to have.
Rating: Summary: Getting Started With Adobe Photoshop Elements Review: I found Philip Andrews profusely illustrated book to be an excellent introduction to utilizing the various enhancement techniques offered by the Adobe Photoshop Elements Software. The real world photographs combinedwith the logical sequence of no-jargon, step-by-step instructions really speeds up the learning process. The paper quality, the printing, and illustrations are all top notch. To carry out the various exercises the photos can be downloaded from the books website. The author quickly responded and rectified by e-mail a downloading broblem I had.
Rating: Summary: Adobe Photoshop Elements, A visual introduction... Review: I got my copy two days ago and it's by far the best I have seen on this topic. While using it at the computer I have learned a lot and I regret that I wasted my time and money on other books. The next time around they should get Andrews to write the book to accompany the software. He knows how to organize and present information in a clear, succinct and useful way.

Rating: Summary: good to see what you can do---not as reference Review: I have yet to find a good REFERENCE on Elements. There are only a handful of books, and most of these show some cool things that you can do, but none offer easy to find, step-by-step directions to do these things. This book is no different. It is the best of the current batch though, in that it has extensive color photos of what you can do. Most other books are black and white. Also, most every feature of Elements is discussed to some degree. I bought three others before this one. This is the best. I do think that the upcoming Visual Quick Start Guide to Photoshop Elements from Peachpit will be the best book to meet my reference need.
Rating: Summary: This book should be in everyone's library Review: I purchased A Visual Introduction to Digital Imaging, BEFORE purchasing Elements. I wasn't sure if Elements was easy enough for me. The book is so clear and understanding. The quality of the pages are also great. Not some inexpensive paper. I also like the online tutorials. I feel that anyone who is considering purchasing this book, will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: great book for those who never used photoshop before Review: if you can't figure out how to use photoshop elements, this book will teach you alot. it did for me.
Rating: Summary: A Master Teacher Explains It All Review: In reading this wonderful book, there was never a moment when I felt confused or irritated. Philip Andrews has a rare gift for being perfectly clear. And his editors have laid out this book beautifully with all the colored illustrations needed to follow the text. I have gone through the entire book and am now comfortable in the world of Adobe Photoshop Elements. Kudos to Philip Andrews and my personal gratitude.
