Rating: Summary: Incorporate ANSI Standards when learning AutoCAD Review: This book was developed when I started teaching at DeAnza College in Cupertino, CA. I needed to teach students more than just AutoCAD in the beginning and intermediate AutoCAD classes. I needed to teach them how to draft and how to apply ANSI standards to their drawings. A major complaint of employers is that AutoCAD students don't know how to layout and dimension drawings properly. The book is meant to be used by technical schools, high schools, and colleges that teach an AutoCAD class and want some additional material detailing orthographic layout, how to dimension, how to label holes, how to create a template and a titleblock, etc. The book is meant to be an inexpensive replacement to the large Technical Graphics books that schools often use and require, with the added bonus of being specific to working in the AutoCAD environment. This book is meant to be used in conjunction with a standard AutoCAD book. Students like it because it teaches skills that they will need in order to get a job and teachers like it because it fills in the gaps of standard AutoCAD textbooks. Teachers can download powerpoints that are used in conjunction with the book from the publisher's website. The material is presented using large fonts, cartoons, and graphics to make it more appealing to high schoolers and community college students. This book is intended for beginners, not for the intermediate or high level user.
