Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderful
Review: I have many fond memories attached to Astroboy. I love the character, and even though I never really understood the cartoon, because I only had a japanese version with Mandarin subtitles, this book really captured the essence of what I feel Astroboy is about: Hope. Muddled within the robotics and the flawed naivete of the central character is someone like the rest of us. Someone whose heart is in a constant state of brokenness, but every once in a while experiences a connection so pure and potent that all the solitude flutters away like doves escaping an M.C. Escher tesselation. Leaving behind the complimentary shadows of Astroboy and his Hope, his optimism, his irrational and ill-advised faith in true love.
I'm glad to see Astroboy is arriving in America. May this book be a herald of wonders to come and pains forgotten.
