Summary: Heart Places among the Stars....
Review: "There are places in my mind I can go to, if I want to remember heart places, mixed with dreams and bits of me long gone. Locked behind my eyes, so real they should exist..." ~Casi in Wandering Star~

I received this graphic novel as a present from a dear friend, and was completely enthralled by its intriguing storyline and its believable, compelling characters. Told in flashback, the story centers around Casandra, the daughter of the President of the United Nations and the first human admitted to the Galactic Academy.

Here, she finds herself scorned, ignored, and taunted as the representative of a "warlike and barbarous species." When a particular taunting turns into an ugly confrontation, she is rescued by Madison, the "psychic guy" being examined by Academy scientists.

Despite his dislike of contact, Casi forges a friendship with him, along with his mentor, Graikor, who becomes like a big brother to her as well, and Elli, the energy being, who helps to power the spacecraft they are building, the Wandering Star.

A simple test cruise designed to perk Casi up takes the friends away from the Academy just before a Bono Kiro attack, and Casi's worse tormentor, Mekon, suffers a devastating loss, giving him a glimpse of the dangers of apathy.

The Bono Kiro have returned. War is on again, and the Wandering Star becomes a flagship in the new battle for freedom.

Any fan of well-written science fiction or fantasy, as well as those who enjoy graphic novels, should pick up this trilogy immediately. It's well worth the cost, and will stay on your shelf of favorites for a long time to come!
