Summary: Night of the Jackal: Not a good sequel at all
Review: The second book of the North Star series pales in comparison to the first. Maybe all the violence just got too old.

I really wouldn't recommend this title even if you enjoyed the first issue.

I don't know if the other books in this series is enjoyable like the first one. So if you have to get another one, skip over this one...

Summary: The Saga Continues...
Review: The warrior Kenshiro continues to roam the post apocolyptic Earth, wandering village to village helping strangers and laying the smack down on evil. Basically, if you liked the first graphic novel, you'll like this one because it's more of the same.

The story begins with Kenshiro encountering a village where he meets a heroic old woman who cares for the orphans of the village and searches for water underground. Ken's martial arts skills erupts a water spout and the village is safe--until a large biker gang notices the water and plans on taking it over but they're a little smarter than the usual Fist of the North Star villain--they realize that they're no match for Hokuto No Ken (Japanese name) and wait until he's gone. They kill the old woman and Ken spends the book hunting down the gang and their leader. Here we actually see Ken challenged by a monstrous giant who is refered as the "devil". This beast actually hurts Ken but you can guess what happens when Kenshiro starts gaining focus.

The most significant aspect of the book is the introduction of the fan favorite Ray (or Rei, however you spell it), master of the Southern Cross style. And we're introduced to a possible new love interest Mamia who bears a striking resemblence to Yuria (or Julia in the anime).

Overall this is another welcome edition of the Fist story. The fight scenes continue to be the goriest anywhere and Kenshiro proceeds to be the ultimate martial arts bad-@$$. If you like Fist of the North Star or like martial arts and don't mind blood, then you'll like the Night of the Jackal.
