Review: Book One picks up after Aliens the movie and follows Newt and Hicks through the aftermath. The story is great, and the art is good as well. It may not be in color, but it looks really good. If you only buy one Aliens graphic novel, make sure it's Book One!

Review: I was greatly surprised by this book. It is probably the best of the comics, and focuses on the survival of Hicks and Newt. I heard other reviewers say that the comics were better than the last two movies, and I must agree. ... The story focuses on the survivors of the Aliens mission, Hicks and Newt. After their arrival on Earth, they were seperated and unable to communicate with each other. But when an Alien Hiveworld is found the goverment needs Hicks expertise and drag him along. But not before he rescues Newt(who is much older due to the elapsed time spent on earth) and takes her with him. After barely escaping the alien mission, Newt and Hicks realize that the aliens are setting up a bigger hiveworld, a hiveworld on the planet earth.

Review: This book had a great story to it. The people who wrote the book did a good job on the story, the art is awesome, and they redid the story better then the original Alein moveis. I'm not going to blow the story but it takes of after Alien3. Over all this book is must buy for Alien fans, and for people who just started the serise.

Summary: Aliens Book One: A rare must-have for Aliens Fans
Review: This volume is a must-have for Aliens fans. The original graphic-format follow-up to ALIENS, and the quite possibly the reason Dark Horse Comics still publishes today, this collection is nothing short of spectacular. This compilation of six individually published Aliens comics follows the story of Hicks and Newt (Ripley is mysteriously absent) when they return to an Earth where conniving company executives have inadvertantly released the alien scourge upon the populace. As this story was written before ALIEN 3 and ALIEN RESSURECTION, it is not in line with the current movie plots. More on this later. Verheiden's story is compelling, and his treatment of everyone's favorite xenomorphs is nothing short of spectacular. The plot tantalizes the imagination, and the narrative keeps the reader informedwithout burdening him with an overcomplicated script. The book is in black-and-white, which may not appeal to everyone. Warner's illustrations are cutting-edge, yet down to earth, and capture the action in simple lines and tones. We all know that the only truly imnportant aspect of an Aliens comic is the quality of the rendition of the title characters, and Warner delivers in spades. A color version of this book, titled "Aliens: Outbreak" is available. This version has been brought "in line with 20th Century Fox continuity", which means Hicks and Newt have been replaced by dummy characters with eerily familiar backstories. While that volume has been colored, it is little more than a cheap knock-off. Anyone over the age of thirteen should be able to handle the discontinuity, especially given the quality of this story (which is, in this reviewers oppinion, far superior to that of the later movies). ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES, buy this book!

Review: Written before Alien3, this book is not in line with the films after Aliens. It is far better than any of them. The story is the best I have read in a graphic novel. Only one word need describe it-epic. We do not have cheesy INDEPENDANCE DAY type theatrics, we have a panorama of love, ambition, strife and perdition. The aliens' invasion of Earth is brilliantly portrayed, as is the subsequent collapse of civilization. We have human civilization and savagery juxtaposed clearly. Philosophy and terror go hand in hand in this extraordinary book. The most emotionally moving title in this series. This should have been ALIEN3. It has all the poeticism and emotional depth of that brilliant movie, while it dispenses with the plotting infelicities and sketchy characterization. Compared to ALIEN RESURRECTION, the latest title in the movie saga, this book is a prime piece of science-fiction. Ironically that movie was more like a cheesy comicbook, while this book is like an excellent movie. Comparisons th Kubrick's SPACE ODYSSEY 2001 would indeed be justified when talking of this book. The illustrations are beautiful, with special attention on the faces of the characters. One final note: this was rereleasd under the title OUTBREAK with changes made to fit it in with ALIEN3.
