Rating: Summary: My Favorite Book! Review: ...this is still my favorite book because it has a time machine and I wish I could build a time machine or something like it or somebody would come to me from the future. The book was very interesting and I didn't want to put it down. My favorite part was when the old woman flapped her arms and everyone laughed.
Rating: Summary: Disney Award Winner! Review: Do you watch the Antiques Roadshow? Do you collect anything of value? As all collectors know, there's always that one rare item that seems unattainable, that you dream about finding in a dusty attic or a remote yard sale. This book explores the exciting possibility of fulfilling that dream for comic collectors. The main character, a serious comic buff, acquires a time travel ring, and plans to go back in time with his friend to get a mint condition copy of the first Superman comic (now worth over $100,000.) The reader is left in suspense throughout the entire book, wondering if they will succeed or not, as their plan unravels into a full-fledged adventure through time and space. This book is funny, fast moving, and never dull. I discovered it through my son's Disney Adventures magazine, where it was nominated for best adventure book of 2001. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more attention. My son's read it twice already. If you or your children want a break from the fantasy genre that seems to be dominating readership now, this clever sci-fi/adventure is for you.
Rating: Summary: REALLY GOOD BOOK Review: I read also the Amulet of Kommondor by the author. This book is cool but Amulet was better. I like how they do all these funny things to try to save the rare comic. Its an adventure and you have to read to the end to see if they save the comic.
Rating: Summary: REALLY GOOD BOOK Review: I've used this book all year as an independent reading choice in my 6th grade clasroom. It really draws in even the most reluctant reader. The kids like the combination of time travel, comic books, aliens, prehistoric monsters, etc.--just about everything a kid would want in a book. My personal favorite scene is when Brian falls out of the alien spaceship and realizes his corduroy pants had saved him, and they're NOT damaged! Very funny stuff. I think adults will enjoy the book too.
Rating: Summary: comic books Review: This book is great. I collect comic books and wish I had superman 1. I read the book twice
