Summary: The original is always the best.
Review: before there was gundam z, zz, x, 0080, 0083, formula 91, endless waltz, generation 0, the 8th MS team, wing (which most of you are probably familiar with), or any other gundam, there was gundam 0079(a.k.a. mobile suit gundam). This book contains everything you need to know about how the gundam saga got started. And eventhough the original series was created in 1979, the storyline and plot are excellent. This is a must-get-book to all of you who only know about gundam wing since wing is only a small fraction of the gundam universe. NOTE: this story takes place hundreds of years BEFORE wing.

Summary: Not quite as good...
Review: I consider myself a major Gundam fan, in fact, I've seen every Gundam saga there are except the first one. At first, I concluded that this book and saga must be extremely well-drawn with good concepts and a interesting script, but only after twenty minutes, I found it insanely pointless and time wasting. I advise all major Gundam fans who are greatly fascinated by the world of Gundam to reconsider before buying this book; but don't let it prevent you from exploring the other Gundam series like 8th MS Team or Gundam Wing.

Review: I expected the Manga to be a liitle better after I saw the Anime on Cartoon Network. But as it turns out I like the Anime better than the Manga. There is something about the Manga it just rushes into everything so quickly and doesn't leave time for the characters to develop. Though the animation is good and the characters look pretty much the same. All in all it is a good Manga book to read. It has 192 pages, a short character summary in the front, and a time line of the history of the Universal Century in the back.

Summary: The Coolest Book Ever
Review: I like this book because, it is about something cool and different. The thing I don't like about it is the book is kind of hard to follow. This is a really good book besides that.I think any one who reads it should be over 10.Gundam is the coolest thing ever.

Summary: Fascinating^_^
Review: I was a die-hard Sailor Moon fan, but I needed something new to watch. So I started watching Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network, and guess what? I got addicted to it! Well.... I decided that I needed to fing out more about the ORGIGINAL Gundam series, and this book was very helpful in that respect. I like the characters and Amuro Ray reminds me of Heero Yuy. Who does Char Aznable look like? Clue: Maybe Zechs? Anyway, if you're a Gundam Wing fan it might not hurt to check this book out because you are missing out on the original Gundam series which aired in 1979 (about the time of Star Wars and Star Trek). Also think about the fact that this is what started the Gundam series and iif it weren't for this series there wouldn't be Gundam Wing or any other seasons! This book might be a little confusing for a new Gundam Wing fan, but it's definitly worth checking out!

Summary: Not what I expected but not not surprisd either
Review: I was really reluctant to buy this graphic novel. I have already been through the Gundam hype before, and lost interest several times because of what it had become. But I also know the original Gundam series has very strong ethical themes. It's not all action and mecha.

I hadn't seen or remembered any of the original Gundam since it first aired (and was too young to understand many of the themes). So I thought I might purchase and read this first volume, and hopefully understand more of the story. I wanted to.

I was dissappointed to find that this book was action beginning to end. There isn't much time to know the characters, they just seem to develop immediately. However in all fairness, given the situation the characters are in, they are forced to develop quckly.

The manga does not provide what I expected, disappointing consiodering manga does not have the same time constraints as a televison programme. I would have liked it to follow more of what Yoshiyuki Tomino really wanted the story to be.

The is no doubt that the mechanical detail in the book is good, characters seem to take a second place in the beatuty of the art, and the story appears to follow the original story well. will I continue the series of graphic novels?

Perhaps, this is only the first book, I will give this version story a chance to develop some more.
