Summary: Medieval tale
Review: Hermann, one of the finest European comics artist (author of numerous books and series: Jeremiah, Jugurtha, Bernard Prince) created this medieval tale where one can find the most amazing and a very believeable world of medieval knights, damsels, vagabonds, bandits and peasants etc, who do love, wander ceaselessly, fight for glory or just survival, work long hours for a lousy pay, steal to avoid hunger or just to further themselves in life and suffer wounds, torture, rape or some other misery, all in the context of the 12th century Europe. This is the first installment of this magnificent 12-odd volume saga that unfortunately has not been published in English in its entirety, which is truly a shame. This very humane, multidimensional saga begins with a story of a landless knight Aymar and his squire Olivier who dreaming about retaking his family casttle - his fabled Bois-Maury. But there is also another hero - the common laborer Germain, whose misadvetures parallel the knight's adventures and exploits. Excellent story, fabulous drawing style, acurate recreation of armor, weaponry, costumes, architecture, landscapes etc . In short, a must for medieval history afficionados and comics lovers alike...
