Summary: Best cop/werewolf story ever
Review: A very well written and researched story concerning the investigation of a serial crime, with a unique suspect. As a cop I find it a relief that an author would put much realism into a novel of this type. Hopefully a sequel is in the works, to follow up the lifes of the characters.

Summary: Lots of action and werewolves
Review: Allison Goodnight is a detective in a coastal Texas town, she is also a werewolf, as are many members of the department. She is breaking in a new partner (human) when a werewolf serial killer strikes the town. It is imperative that humans are not made aware of the existence of werewolves, and that they capture this rogue before she kills again.This was an entertaining and action packed novel. I found myself reading far longer than I wanted to find out who the killer was and why. The characters were a little flat and did not really hold my interest, fortunately, the murder mystery was engrossing.

Review: Although humans don't know it, werewolves exist right in your community. They don't think much of Homo sapiens believing that between overpopulation and war, eventually the "weres" will inherit the earth one day. They try not to call attention to themselves because the humans have superior numbers and can easily kill them off. When homicide detective Allison Goodnight, a "were" herself, is called in to investigate a homicide she immediately knows that the victim was murdered by one of her own kind. Allison and the other "weres" on the police force are trying to track the rogue down before the humans on the case realize exactly what they're dealing with. Allison also has to seem open with her new partner without revealing things to him that could call attention to her race, a difficult juggling act at best. Lee Killough is a master storyteller who combines the supernatural with the mystery genre creates a novel that is original and fascinating to read. The protagonists take on the human race adds a touch of whimsy to a serious and complex story line. Let's hope there are more novels in the future staring this refreshingly unique heroine. Summary: A werewolf fan's delight
Review: I enjoyed the book a lot. Nice solid depiction of a police detective working a case, with very well developed werewolf culture included. Recommend this for people who enjoy a strong, smart female lead, and werewolf fans. Not as erotic or sensual as Anita Blake books, but solid plotting and a real feel of suspense and danger in the book. On the plus side there are two leads, the main lead is the female police detective who is secretly a werewolf, and her new partner, a very human male who's also a very good detective. Maybe too good as he gets close to his partner's dangerous secret. This is NOT a romance. It's mainly a mystery with some good werewolf culture woven in. A good read.

Summary: A Really Great... Must Not Put Down Til You Finish... Book!
Review: I read (and have read) a lot of novels. I enjoy good fantasy, mystery, historical fiction, SF, romance...just about anything that is well-written with interesting character/personality development--and with an intricate, yet understandable plot...that has a satisfying (and not depressing) ending!
I must say that this book has more than exceeded my expectations in all areas! The main characters were strong, and yet had all of the diversities of human frailities & strengths. The plot was complex, yet clearly led and built up to a thought-provokingly rewarding conclusion. Even the cover was Incredible!(I was NOT embarrassed to read it out/around co-workers & family!) Although this was not technically a romance, it did have romantic aspects regarding its character encounters; which did not detract in any way from the suspense/mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!! Just be aware, that once "hooked", you'd better have allotted some "spare" time in which to quickly finish this story...or you might just start having aspects of it invade your dreams (not nightmares--just colorful imaginings)until you finally do complete it! ENJOY!!

All the good stuff - tight plotting, crisp dialogue, compelling action, and a set of characters that had me begging for a sequel before I'd even finished. Especially appealing to me: an inventive take on werewolf mythology, a main character that *isn't* tortured by what she is, and the large and intriguing family unit to which she belongs. Killough puts it all together in fine fashion.
