Review: "Sharon and Steve used their time between publishers to good advantage, honing this one into an exciting romp that promises their fans a great deal of fun with future volumes."-Analog, October 1999

"This latest novel is a rousing military space adventure with larger-than-life characters, and packs more action into its pages than many trilogies - and best of all, it can be read by those unfamiliar with the series, though the intriguing bits of back story may send impatient readers searching used bookstores for the previous novels. It's great adventure, hard to beat for fans of fast-paced space opera."-Locus, August 1999

"Okay, if you were desperate for a label you could call this 'space opera'. You could say the same about Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan stories. In neither case would that label begin to convey the intrinsic charm of these character-intensive stories. You should all run out and order Plan B..."-Twink 14

"You've done it again! That was one marvelous read...all my old Liaden friends...I'm greedy, I want another one...like right now. A real page-turner, and that's even with me going back and reading the nice juicy bits twice. I do not often RAVE, but consider me RAVING with delight to have one more of my favorite comfort books available. Boy, PLAN B is spot on for me and SUCH a grand read after some of the ho-hums I'm plagued with. Miri and Val Con, Shan and Priscilla - Edger and Sheather...even the Juntavas gal - it's SO good to read them again. Babble, babble, babble. Quote me! D'you know? Having mentioned my loving of the Liaden series, I've found a lot more people out there who'd KILL for a copy of PLAN B. Thank God most of them live elsewhere and can't reach me. :) :) ;) or, as translated, hehehehehe! Yippee! Guess I liked the book, huh? Think I'll just go back and start the re-read tonight... You've got a beaut here."-Anne McCaffrey

"A book such as this, which melds a far future background, excellent action, believable characters, but does not turn too technical for the average reader should be hailed with satisfaction. It comes to life when one turns the pages and is a fine buy for those hoping to assemble an outstanding personal library."-Andre Norton

"I'm thrilled to see the return of the Liaden Universe, as it's long overdue. Sharon Lee & Steve Miller are a great writing team. Plan B is compelling space adventure with a capital A!"-A. C. Crispin, author of the StarBridge series and the Han Solo trilogy

"When I'm looking for an intelligent, thought-provoking, and fast-paced science fiction story that is also blessed with complex, fascinating, and frankly loveable characters, I turn to Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. They put human-and non-human-relationships center-stage and have created a unique universe in which the reader becomes deeply involved. Plan B boldly continues the fine series established in Agent of Change, Conflict of Honors, and Carpe Diem, leaving us wanting more in this compelling series. Once I've read a Lee and Miller novel, I never forget it."-Susan Krinard

"A genuine treat for Liaden fans. Rich with detail-the best yet."-Barry B. Longyear

"Sharon Lee and Steve Miller have imaginations matched only by the precision of their writing. Enter the world of Plan B and be transported."-Gerry Boyle, author of Cover Story

"Plan B is so wonderful, so special, so absolutely incomparable to anything else."-eluki bes shahar

"Action, nifty tech, larger-than-life characters, romance, humor, mind-expanding talents-Plan B is space opera at its best. Another Liaden novel-it's about time!"-Sherwood Smith

"Plan B is full of widescale destruction and ironic humor and justified paranoia..."-Christina M. Schulman

"It took only a few pages to realize that Sharon and Steve still had their magic touch. Plan B was everything I could have hoped for."-Patricia Bray

"A richly imagined space opera saga, full of wonderful characters, strange races, big inventions, and adventure galore! Plan B should win Lee and Miller armies of new readers."-Robin Bailey

"...Plan B is Space Opera at its best, a rousing tale of action and intrigue in the far future."-Norm's Notes, Norman E. Hartman, June 18, 1999

"Plan B is the long awaited sequel to Miller and Lees's 80's Trilogy. The series was incomplete and at long last in their inimitable style the authors have provided rip roaring answers to many of the questions about events in the wonderful Liaden Universe of Conflict of Honors, Agent of Change, and Carpe Diem.

The authors have maintained the combination of dramatic action and humor in the original tales and have preserved their original flavor.

A Really Good read."-ConNotations, December 1999

Summary: A long thirst finally sated
Review: As soon as I heard that this book was available to order (back in December) I put my name on the list.

When I received the book, I rejoiced and settled in to my den with a "do not disturb" to my family. After all, I'd waited 10 years.. they had to understand!

When I came up for air some hours later, Val Con, Miri, Edger and a lot of my favorites from the first three books (Can't give away too much) were back and their story leaped off the pages into my imagination.

My mind soared with the images and twists of the tale and I could honestly say it was worth the wait.

The story is told from multiple viewpoints which all meshed and wove together perfectly. The characters are "real", the world setting believable and the story is just fantastic.

A finely honed and crafted tale of suspense and the art of war meshed within an over arc of a man and his wife fighting for a life together.

All I can say is... I Dare, where are you?

Summary: Excellent, Adventure, Intrigue, Action, Romance
Review: After a long wait, I am delighted to report that this book is an excellent continuation of one of my all time favorite series. I read the 3 earlier books years ago and have been on the lookout for this one ever since. I often reread those three earlier books (they are being republished early next year BTW)and am pleased to add Plan B to my list of all time favorites.

While this book does build on the earlier novels it can be read & enjoyed entirely on its own merit. Of course I strongly recommend picking up the other three as they become available, I know I will be picking up additional copies. :-)

Warning this book can be hazardous to your job. Do not pick it up unless you have the time to read it in one sitting. Everyone I have talked to or loaned my copy has been unable to put it down.

Happy reading!

Summary: Great, action adventure story, I couldn't put it down.
Review: I could not put plan B down. The action and humor makes it hard to wait for the next books in the series to be published.

Summary: Buy This Book. Read This Book.
Review: The Liaden series has a resonance and depth not commonly found in SF series, and a sense that the reader isn't seeing the result of world-building so much as of world-discovering. Those of us who have waited years to continue the adventures of ValCon, Miri, and the gang welcome, with an utter lack of proper decorum and seemliness, this latest installment of the Liaden Universe. More, more!

Summary: An exciting read, couldn't put it down
Review: I haunted bookstores for years waiting for this book, I'm glad I found it at Amazon. It has been well worth the wait. Now can we please have book #5.

Summary: Don't put off reading this one like I did
Review: A friend of mine bought Plan B at BaltiCon and told me he read it twice in two days. Then he lent it to another friend, who read it overnight. They kept talking about Plan B this and Plan B and when I asked about it he just lent me the book, but I just put it in my to be read pile until Sunday night. Bad idea! I ended up finishing the book at 4 am and needed to go to work at 7:30!

I haven't read all the other books in the series but I can only say this one caught my interest so much I bought my own copy. There's adventure and some humour and some really original aliens running around in the background. I hate to give away a good story, but this one had me really holding my breath during an amazing airbattle with a pilot who has been shot.

Summary: Like water in the desert...but barely enough!
Review: "Plan B -- Speak to me of danger, do!" has become a watch-word among certain groups of readers. And now we finally know what Plan B IS----- sort of. After reading (and re-reading) the first three books in this universe, and hooking many of my friends on them, I was thrilled beyond words when the newest edition hit the stands. Action, most certainly. Honor, excitement, romance, intrigue, curious abilities and of course, ten foot tall talking turtles....what is there not to love!?! Val Con and Miri, Shan and Priscilla, all of our favorites from Clan Korval are here, and THIS time, some of them in the same places! If there is anything wrong with this book (besides the fact that it ENDED!), it is the way the chapter-lets, or segments, really, jump from character set to character set. You could get motion sick, if you're not careful, trying to keep track of where you are when. But much can be forgiven where so much pleasure is delivered. And of course, nothing whets the appetite better than knowing there is more to come! "I Dare" isn't THAT far away.... Keep on writing, Steve and Sharon!

Summary: Miller and Lee -- back again and better than ever!
Review: Many authors can create either a great plot and gripping action, or sympathetic and memorable characters. It takes a great writer (or in this case, two of them!) to create both in the same series... which is exactly what Steve Miller and Sharon Lee have done with "Plan B." As the fourth book in a series, "Plan B" makes a *little* bit more sense if one has read the previous novels - but it isn't a requirement. Even if you have no prior exposure to the Liaden Universe, I believe that Miri, Val Con and company will touch your heart, tickle your funny bone, and have you perched on the edge of your favorite reading chair. The gap between the books' publishing may have been nearly 10 years, but the story picks up almost precisely where it left off, and proceeds to take the reader on a wild roller-coaster ride. If you enjoy your SF with a warm human (or Liaden) side, you should definitely give "Plan B" a try!
