Review: I am not usually a reader of serial-killer thrillers, but I must say "The Society", by first-time author Mr. John Conn, had me hooked from page one!The book's main villain, James Felton Kellogg, patriarch of The Society, is as smooth and evil as they come, a bad guy who can give Hannibal Lecter a run for his money. If you're looking for a good, solid read this summer, you can't get much better than "The Society".

Review: John Conn has taken the serial killer genre and given it a much awaited twist. The first number of mini-chapters(he breaks up the reading with titles that hint at what is to follow)sets the pace of what happens not only to the serial killers of The Society, but to a number of 'normal' characters that are met. Multilayered, the book delves into the history and psyche of the 'species' that must seek out and perpetuate their kind. It's a strange trip viewing the world through their eyes(where we learn much about our own fears), but well worth it. One piece of advice, don't get too attached to any particular character(hard not to)beacuse you never know if they will make it to the end of the book.

Review: The Society turns out to be more than what I expected when I first picked it up. The fact that the tables are turned on a society of serial killers might make it seem a clear hunt and destroy type of book with the standard bad guys (nowadays everyone seems to be a serial killer) and good guys. I've read a number of these types of books and John Conn's novel turns out to be anything but standard. An undercurrent runs through the book that not only surfaces with each kill but also waits in the corners for the next character to make a mistake and join the ranks of the dead. At times, it almost reads like a text book study on these killers within the framework of the story. I came away with a great scary story and an insight to a society I want no part of.

Review: The Society was magnificent and intriguing!!! First time author John Conn successfully wrote a book which kept me on the edge of my seat and allowed me to live through the eyes of each character. James Felton Kellogg is a character that I will never forget. I can't wait to read Mr. Conn's next book.

Summary: Keeps the pages turning
Review: This book is frightening! Not an easy one to take at times. At one point it had me wondering with all of the people that go missing across the country, if there was a society of serial killers out there on the hunt. The writer has a way of blending facts to make you question the fiction. Even if you're not into these types of criminals, this one will keep you turning the pages and looking over your shoulder.
