Summary: A Breath of Enchanted Air!
Review: When I finished reading this book, I turned around and read it over again! A lush, grown up fairytale, it is now one of my favorites. Funny, whimsical, and bright, the wonderful thing about this book is that I recaptured that feeling of wonder and anything-is-possible that I had when reading my favorite books of magic and mystery as a child.

The story centers around a boy named Tristran, who lives in the ordinary hamlet of Wall, which rests on the border of the never-ordinary otherworld, the homeland of Tristrans mother. Certain events compel Tristran to journey thru the Wall and into Faerie. It is here that the author really gets to make use of voluptous language and description. A quote:

" A warm wind stroked Tristran's face: it smelled like peppermint, and black current leaves, and red, ripe plums..."

This is an offbeat journey of beautiful and occasionally horrific events that has left me wondering when I will find another like it.

Summary: Classic Storytelling Tradition
Review: Neil Gaiman has captured the flavor of old time storytelling. He has woven a story which is both impossible to put down, and especially simple to become absorbed in. The fantastic characters in the novel became dear to me within paragraphs of their introduction, and the saddest aspect of the story was that it had to draw to a close. If only I could have stayed within the world of Stardust. I have demanded that many of my friends read Stardust, and all have thanked me for doing so.

Summary: better than Chicken Soup
Review: This is simply a terrific tale. I've become a Gaiman fan in the last few years and this is my favorite so far. Not quite so outrageous as Good Omens, not as deep as American Gods or dark as Neverwhere. But this is a perfect fanciful adult tale. #1 on my list of "Things to read to your girlfriend while she's feeling under the weather". Gaiman has a wonderful talent for mixing light hearted mirth right in with macabre malice. Not something you'd read to a child, this book is for the sadder but wiser kid in us.

Summary: MAGICAL! DAZZLING! BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN!
Review: Assuming this is the same Stardust I read by Neil Gaiman, this is one of the greatest books I've ever read. I am a science fiction/fantasy reader, and I have to tell you this book is one of the best, if not the best of all! Gaiman has a vivid imagination that struck my own causing it to whirl in brilliant colors and uhh, whatever! (do i sound like a add, commercial for this book yet? Anyways, bottom line is, this is the most wonderful books I have ever read.

Summary: A GREAT FAIRY TALE
Review: When I selected STARDUST, I was looking for a book with a good story line. The editorial review and spotlight reviews helped me make my selection. I love adventure tales, and Tristran has his share of great adventures. I love history, and the time settings in the book are clearly spelled out. I love mythology, and this book is a myth-a fairy tale for adults. I think Neil Gaiman is a good writer because he is clear and concise; he knows how to keep the story moving right along. This is my first book by Neil Gaiman, and it won't be my last.

Summary: A good children's tale.
Review: This is an excellent children's story. Gaiman (when writing somewhat juvenille fiction) doesn't dumb down the writing by much; he just carefully words topics that little ones shouldn't pay too much attention to. I'd recommend this highly, as it is a good, quick read.

Summary: entertaining read
Review: this book was on a required reading list for my school. and i really enjoyed it! it quickly grabbed your interest with the story of dunstan thorn and the market that happens on the other side of Wall, the town he resides in. then, the story picks up with his son, tristran, who is half-mortal. tristan promises the girl he adores that he will bring her back a fallen star. his adventures after he ventures into the land of Faerie, will have you quickly turning the pages.

Review: The story grabbed me and didn't let go until the end. Gaiman is truly a master of his craft. I'd recommend this book to anyone!

Summary: The master of fantastical worlds spins another masterpeice!
Review: Stardust was my first Gaiman book to read, and it transfixed me with a sense of wonder. I went on to read his other books, which did not fail to astound me again!

The story line is magnificent, the characters are amazingly believable, the number of pages way to short. It's just beautiful.

Unfortunately, the only thing marring this work of genius are some explicit sexual scenes, leaving nothing to the imagination. There is some crude language, but these things were not enough to make this anything but five stars. I have made a habit of keeping a black marker to touch up those sentences that need not be there, so after I'm done it's suitable for children, because the before mentioned things would be the only things keeping it from being suitable for children. I'm sure that children would love it as much as adults do, because works of genius genarally enthrall wide audiences with its words.

Buy this book, it would be one of your best purchases yet.

Summary: A DELIGHT
Review: As much as I liked Gaiman's books Neverwhere and Smoke & Mirror, Stardust is the Gaiman book that truly enchanted me. Stardust builds the plot and develops the characters with a leisurely charm and with use of remarkably few words. I never saw where he was going with the plot and I was saddened when the book concluded -- I wanted more. As soon as I finished this book, I gave my copy to a friend and sent copies as gifts. It is a terrific read!
