Summary: Wonderful fantasy!!
Review: I bought Stardust as the four "comic books" it originally shipped as. If at all possible one should search these out since Charles Vess' wonderful illustrations complement Neil Gaiman's story perfectly. They capture the Victorian/fantasy feel of the book and add a certain depth to the already rich prose. I love Neil Gaiman's work and this is a classic example of his abilities.

Summary: Gaiman has created a delightful Faerie world!
Review: I opened the cover of Stardust and was instantly lost in Gaiman's world beyond the Wall. He deftly weaves legend and mythology together with an enchanting love story about a strange young man and the fallen star he captures. Holding readers spellbound by his fairy-tale diction and charmed imagination, Gaiman makes it impossible to leave this world until we reach the end of Tristran and Yvaine's journey. Even then, readers will yearn to hear more of this master's bewitching tales.

Summary: YAY NEIL!!
Review: this is a great book. it is so charmingly simple, and it reads like a classic fairy tale, yet it manages to be so wonderfully *different*, so very full of life and personality. it is a beautifully written story, and i think everyone should buy all of neil's books.

Summary: Everything I always wanted in a book
Review: It's hard to find a book with all the right elements - interesting, fast-paced, romance, action, and a good ending. This book had all of those. In fact, it was so interesting I literally could not put it down. I carried it everywhere with me, even to Wal-Mart, and had it read within a half a day. It's also nice to read a book with a good ending. So many leave you hanging, leaving your imagination to fill in the ending. I was relieved that the author completely filled me in on what happened in the end. And it was even a happy ending! This book reminds me of the stories my dad used to tell me when I was a child, about witches and glass mountains. Despite all the reviews that are here, I had to add mine. I wanted so much to tell everyone about this book! It kept me entertained and it will leave you feeling good, also.

Summary: A Beautifully Written Book
Review: What all of the reviews fail to mention is that this is a beautifully written book. The style just amazed me. It is not as literary as Sandman or Signal to Noise, but it is intellectually far more stimulating than Neverwhere. It takes a traditional fantasy story and raises it to a new level. I'd suggest finding the DC Comics version, though. It is the entire prose story, but includes illustrations on almost every page. The pages are bigger and of high quality, and the DC softcover will cost about the same as the Avon hardcover.

Summary: yeah, I'd say five
Review: This book didn't have the omph that Neverwhere did, but was more evenly drawn out with its stories and inner stories and such. I loved the imagery used and never failed to smile in reading this most fabulous novel. Compared to Neverwhere (again) they would equal out with the number of stars that I'd rate them. (oh and by the by...if you haven't read Neverwhere and are reading this.....GO AND READ IT!!! yes, thats a direct order) Anyways, I give it two thumbs and toes up, with a enthusiastic grin! Neil is truly a master....he chains me to his work!

Summary: Tastes Great, Not Filling
Review: I truly enjoyed reading this book, even once missing my subway stop. It's fantasy for people who can't abide the current Tolkien derivitive word flushers. Still, there's something lacking - a certain heart-feltness. The characters were not quite cyphers, but neither did they engage at the level that great fiction must. Reading the book was like eating an appetizing, but not filling, meal. This reader was left hungry.

Summary: Enchanting, addictive, couldn't put it down.
Review: My first Neil Gaiman book was Neverwhere (which was awesome). I decided to satiate my hunger for another one of his "filling" novels. This book was: unrequited love, faery "stuff",witchcraft, spells...you won't be able to put it down. Easy to read, yet thought provoking.

Summary: Our reviewer gave this a B+, which is like 4 1/2 stars!
Review: Mr. Gaiman read our review of STARDUST and commented on it in a St. Louis newspaper. As a result of that, I read GOOD OMENS and NEVERWHERE and conducted a very interesting interview with him at All About Romance at http://www.likesbooks.com

This is an incredibly talented author w/very interesting things to say. Our reviewer for STARDUST is one tough cookie, and her grade of a B+ was heartfelt. She and I both agree that Neil Gaiman's imagination is exquisite.

As our review says, if you read STARDUST, "your inner child will thank you."

Summary: I didn't want this book to end!
Review: The only negative aspect to this novel is that I really didn't want it to end. I absolutely adored this tale! When I was done reading this book, I gave it to my 15 year old daughter, who was just as enthralled with the characters of Wall as I was. As with Neverwhere, Neil Gaiman creates a richly layered landscape interwoven with surprising plot twists, complex characters, and humorous touches that make you laugh out loud. Neil Gaiman is without question a supremely talented writer who can best be described as a combination of Tolkien, King, Clive Barker and a dash of C.S. Lewis, yet completely with his own unique style. I eagerly await his next novel!
