Summary: Wow
Review: I love anything Neil Gaimen write. His style of writing just flows so freely that you are done with the book before you know it. The charactors are always suprising and you never know what is lurking around the corner. This story is reminiscent of Neverwhere which also involves a man adventures in a magical world.

Summary: Enchanting little tale...
Review: Stardust is a sparkling book that easily captures the reader with a wonderous fantasy. Much like the Myth series from Robert Asprin, Stardust relates a journey into a fantastic world with magical (and often humorous) beings. This is a story about adventure and a quest for love, written with lushly beatiful descriptions and delicious wit. As with his other stories and books, Gaiman takes the reader on an undeniably fun, fantastical romp. For more thorough fantasy (Stardust tends to be a bit light), try Gaiman's "Neverwhere".

Summary: Did I miss something?
Review: Yes, this was a cute story. Cute enough to rate 3 stars. But it was pure fluff. A cute fairy tale story that flows along smoothly to an ending where everything gets tied up into a perfect little, utterly predictable package. I finished it in one day, and not because I was so entranced I couldn't put it down. Don't get me wrong, I didn't dislike it, it's a great story to take your mind off things. But from reading the reviews here, I was expecting a fantasy masterpiece. Just to warn potential readers, if you're looking for substance, you're in the wrong place.

Summary: Wonderful Fantasy Read
Review: In general, I tend to be easily annoyed with fantasy books. This book was a wonderful exemption. It was so original and combined humor, creativity and wonderful characterizations seamlessly. This book offers all the best elements of fantasy: colorful characters, exotic settings, and exiting plot twists. The only thing that troubled me about the book was how some parts were so involving and others seemed to drag a little. A very minor complaint, and I'm sure many people could care less about it, but hey, that's how I felt. Overall, it was a very good book, and definitely worth reading.

Summary: Faerie Stories
Review: Have always followed Gaiman on his comics rather than novel. My first attempt at his novel confirmed that I have given the correct support. Only seen his work through various artists' interpretation. But, boy, he is as good in words as well. In Stardust, he painted a mystical Faerie world like what he had created in his "Books of Magic" world. Simply out of the world, so unpredictable but still retaining all the essences of Arthurian's fairy and knight tales.

The scene are very beautifully painted in words. But i felt that he should have elaborated more on some of the interesting topics and characters in the novel. The 3 witches' origin, the innkeeper's past or even Lady Stormhold's past could have been more elaborated to add on the already captivating plot.

For a short novel, Gaiman had done a great job...Let's hope he follows with a sequel.Do see his other novel..."Neverwhere". recommended!

Summary: Gaiman is amazing!
Review: Stardust amazed me. It is an enchanting fairy tale with magical characters you will never forget. This is the second book I have read by Neil Gaiman and he keeps getting better. He is turning into a world class author.

As the story starts out in the little village of Wall in England, it’s a little slow. The first fifty pages or so explore a few different relationships and what is on the other side of that mysterious wall. But as soon as the story progresses and the setting changes to the land beyond the wall, hang on for the ride.

I found a few similarities to other great books that I have read. The idea about a wall and what is beyond it is a little like Sabriel by Garth Nix. In his acknowledgments, Gaiman thanks C.S. Lewis for the inspiration. You can certainly feel the Narnia-like atmosphere in Stardust.

This book truly dazzled me. I thought it was even better than his previous book Neverwhere. Does this mean that his next book will be even better than this one? I really hope so! We will be hearing the name Neil Gaiman a lot more in the future.

Summary: Never Read a Better Book, and I've read a lot.
Review: This is, by far, my favorite book of all time. I got my college library to order it for me, read it in a single evening, and fell in love. This book produced all of those emotions of a new relationship in me, all that nervous tension, all that fear of rejection, and all that splendid exhilaration of falling. It is, quite simply, one of the greatest stories ever told. I fell so in love that my parents gave me a signed copy of the hardback, illustrated by Charles Vess (which I really suggest you take a look at, as Vess' illustrations are nothing less than perfect), but I loved the unillustrated one first, the one that put the world of Wall and all its inhabitants into my imagination so well that I couldn't imagine ever not having known them. The story is great, and I think the book could be a perfect graduation present, just about finding your heart's desire, working so hard and being so blind to what you really want. The end was stunning. I sat for ten minutes just enjoying the wonderful rush of emotions well over me. All the twists, the forgotten details shown to be the most important elements of the story, the way it just all came together; Gaiman is the finest storyteller we have, and his works are treasures to be cherished for years to come.

Summary: a fairy tale gone terribly wrong to make an exotic story
Review: At first when I read the summary on the book jacket, I thought it would be like one of those old, cheesy Victorian romance fantasies that drag on and on about love and lace. I put it back onto the shelf. A few weeks later, I picked it up and checked it out, and couldn't put it down. It began slowly, but described the setting with intriciate, and interesting, detail. The verbs and adjectives screamed 'read on, read on.' I was so intrigued by the reality of the Faerie market and the interconnecting stories. What I loved most about this book was its wit. Tristran Thorn is the perfect bewildered hero, and the star is a kickass original heroine. The several 'bad guys' have their own feelings and thoughts, and I thought the Lord of Stormhold and his sons was humorous. Every aspect of this book was creative, which is surprising for something that is so alike to a fairy tale. If you liked this book at all, read 'Neverwhere'; it's unlike 'Stardust,' but with the same wit and style.

Summary: Everything I buy Fantasy For
Review: It had all the elements of a great fantasy story. It had mystery, romance, and alot of the magical other world. Neil Gaiman made this world real and possible. I started to be a fan with Neverwhere, and am thoroughly hooked now.

Summary: Narnia for Adults
Review: If you have ever pulled your tattered copies of C.S. Lewis' Narnia Chronicles from their space on the shelf as an adult, you will definately enjoy this book. Not as innocent as Narnia, Stardust nevertheless conjures delightful tale of a young man's journey through Faery to lay claim to a fallen star. Interesting characters abound in this tale-- drawing the reader deeper into the twilight world of Faery as their tales are woven into the rich fabric of the world beyond Wall.
