Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Quality Testing sadly lacking. Review: The only reason I'm even giving this book 2 stars is because the content is fine. But in the 4 copies I've seen so far they obviously didn't bother to proof read. There are many duplicate and off center pages that were obviously printed wrong. If you're going to buy this (and you should it's great) buy a copy you can actually look at first to make sure it's okay.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best strip out there, in a terrific collection Review: I'm amazed by the negative reviews of this strip. Darby Conley may not be political or make historic references in his humor, but does that make it any less funny? Absolutely not. Conley has captured the elements of the animals he represents here and ingeniously injected them with just enough humanity create characters you can't help but love. Bucky's violent cynicism, Satchel's wide-eyed innocence, and Rob's resigned ineffectual authority combine to create laughs in almost every panel of the strip. More often than not, the best part of the strip is getting to the punchline. If you haven't read this strip before, don't be left out.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: highly reccomend this Review: now, contrary to some earlier reviews.. i am a huge fan of this comic. and i'm also a long time huge fan of several of the truely classic greats like Far Side (def my absolute fav), Garfield , and Doonesbury, and i still love this comic.its a little off beat from most comics, and it def does seem to be a comic that u'l either love or hate. does it resemble Garfield? slightly, but the humor itself is quite a bit dif. i def love the comic and would reccomend it to anybody.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: When Will We See Laughter? Review: Sure it took some artists a while for people to get used to them, but eventually they got better. Get Fuzzy has yet to progress to the point of being funny or acute or original. Maybe some strips did take awhile to find themselves, but after four years Bloom County, Calvin and Hobbes and Peanuts found their groove and were funny/original. A fine artist Conley may be, but he needs help in writing jokes and wry humor.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Not One Of The Best Comics I've Seen. Review: I don't think Get Fuzzy is about politics and history. The problem some have is that a lot of people compare it to the very best comics i.e. Bloom County. That is the problem. It isn't that it is not about politics, religion, history etc, the point is is that the great comics used these themes in their work (and not just one or twice mentioning Ceasar). That is why it should not be compared to the best comics. It isn't about op-eds it is about how completly less than average this strip is, save the drawings. Also Conley is not the master of subtleties, as some people claim. What if I were to wear a rugby shirt for my class picture, does that make me a master of subleties? NO! Mentioning The Hobbit in the story line does not include him to be the master of subtle humor either. The creators of the Simpsons, an example, really know how to use subtle humor--they mastered it. Conley needs to get some really great assistants to help him out.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Review about this particular book; not the comic in general Review: Ah yes, the rare moment when I get to review a review. The problem with the reviews written prior to this one is that they address the comic itself, but make no mention of this particular product. So let's get that part out of the way: If you already own The Dog is Not a Toy and Fuzzy Logic, then there is little reason to also purchase this book. Groovitude contains the strips from these two books, and the only bonus it offers is that, unlike the previous books, the Sunday strips are in color. However, should you own only one of the previous two books, then you will be better off shelling out the extra $$$ on Groovitude rather than getting the older, smaller book. (And you should spread the joy and give your older copy to someone else.) Finally, if you own neither DINAT or Fuzzy Logic, don't bother with those books and get this one, as it contains all of the strips from the previous books; some in color- plus, the price for what you get can't be complained about. What first drew me to Get Fuzzy was its art, particularly that of Bucky Katt. There was just something about the way he was drawn I found hilarious, not to mention made me feel nostaligic for Berkely Breathed (of Bloom County fame). The more I read it, the funnier I found the strip. Conley is not afraid to spend more than one strip for a single punchline, but the payoff os well worth it. The premise is one of the finer points of the comic. Yes, artists have created strips about owners and their sentient speaking (or thinking-in-English) pets. However, Conley approaches Bucky and Satchel with the idea that though they can speak, given their short time on Earth, they are still rather dumb. Bucky, while an adult cat, is still only five-years-old; you can't expect him to be capable of higher philosophy without confusing it endlessly. What results is a strange brand of humor unlike anything that has appeared in the comics before. (In fact, the strip reads more like a Web cartoon than a print one). So if you like what you see in the papers, you'll enjoy this collection of Get Fuzzy in its pre-Ferret Wars episodes. If you're flying blind, all the strip requires is an open mind and an off-beat sense of humor.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful Review: I love Get Fuzzy. I think that it's smart and funny and it reminds me of my dog and cat at home. I guess some people just have a problem with an intelligent comic strip. If you want funny, read Get Fuzzy
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Hilarious cartoon if you like it! Review: First off, I will not compare Get Fuzzy to Garfield or Peanuts or whatever everyone else says about it because there are already lots of reviews like that. Personally, I think Get Fuzzy is one of the funniest comic strips I have ever read. But from seeing all the reviews, it is obvious it is one of the cartoons that people either like alot or hate. I will not say you have to be "smart" or anything to understand the sometimes subtle humor in these strips, it is just that you have to be the type of person that thinks its style of jokes are funny. I would strongly recommend you read a few Get Fuzzy strips on the internet before you buy the book, just to see if you like it or not, since it is free and you would have nothing to lose. Get Fuzzy is really clever and funny, just be sure you don't hate it before you buy it.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Isn't This Just Garfield With Fancy Drawings? Review: "It is far superior to 'Garfield'", "I'ts not really Garfield" etc. etc. What do you people mean that it is not Garfield. If it is not Garfield why does everyone have to mention Garfield in their reviews? Do you want to know why? Because all it is is Garfield in fancy packaging!! All it has are four main characters that say essentially the same thing every day. Where are the differences from day to day? This is an average strip at best. So the cat does things like your cat? Big Hairy Deal!! Or should I say "Big Hairy Catball Deal"? Look I made a reference to cats, now my reveiw has to be considered funny right? Or the dog Satchel is so sweet. Sweet is funny??? Sweet is just a deception that untalented comic creators use because they have run out of ideas. I dare Conley to make me laugh!!
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: "Must,Fear ,Change"? Review: Sure, some people might fear change, but "Get Fuzzy" does not offer any changes from "Garfield". So what would there be to fear? There are no changes from "Garfield" other than that it is drawn better. If people would really look at the strip they would see a rather mundane cartoon. Because this cartoon is so boring it must mean that any bad review would come from "jealous" people? That would mean that Darby Conley must have been green with jealousy that Jim Davis (the creator of Garfield) had a talking cat and a batchelor owner cartoon that he decided to create a knock-off, thus "Get Fuzzy" was born. I feel sorry for today's youth in that they were not around for great and original cartoons like "The Far Side" or "Calvin and Hobbes". I will still wait for the next great cartoon to come along, for from what I can see "Get Fuzzy" does not foot the bill. I would suggest buying something else from Amazon.com.
