Summary: cool
Review: I think Shadows of the Empire was one of the best Star Wars books yet. It involves Luke, Leia, Lando,Chewbacca, and the hotshot pilot Dash Rendar. They attempt to get Han back but they fail.A new villian named Prince Xizor is fighting against Darth Vader. The two villians are after Luke. Vader wants him alive, Xizor wants him dead. This is an exciting, action packed book

Summary: Recaptures the spirit of the original movie.
Review: Shadows was probably the most-hyped book in the whole Star Wars line, which I consider unfortunate. Many people went in believing all the spins, and came out disappointed. What they missed was that it's a very solid action novel which is very much in the same spirit that Lucas created. All of our heroes are here, except for Han Solo, who is encased in carbonite and en transit to Jabba's Palace. Much of the story revolves around their unsuccessful attempts to rescue him. These adventures also resolve many of the questions raised by Return of the Jedi, such as where Leia got her Boussh disguise, or exactly how those Bothans died getting the Death Star information. The other main plotline involves a previously unseen foe, Prince Xizor (she-zor), who leads the criminal empire called the Black Sun. Much of the book is concerned with the power struggles between him, the Emperor, and Darth Vader within the Imperial Capital of Coruscant. It is these political games which were the most facina

Summary: Best of the Best
Review: Excellent novel. I have found some of the trilogy books should have been made into one book rather than separating them and dragging out the story. This stand-alone novel was the best one of all the books (both stand-alone and trilogy based)I have read. It's pace and plot were great and fills in the blanks between the two movies very well. Just recommmended it to two friends. Enjoy

Summary: Excellent overall, but Luke's behavior odd.
Review: Plenty of excitement and great characters. The only thing that bothered me was the way Luke was portrayed. I thought he was too immature still at the beginning of this novel. After all that had happened to him up to this point, I expected him to be farther along in his mastery of the Force as displayed in the beginning of Return of the Jedi as he faces Jabba and frees Han, Leia, Chewie and Lando. I've read all the Star Wars novels, including the Junior Jedi Knights books (for young adults), and Shadows ranks high on my list. Well worth the read

Summary: Make it a movie!
Review: I am a 12 year old Star Wars fan. I recently bought the junior novelization of ST: SOTE. I believe that is a movie worthy Star Wars chapter and it would be good to include since it takes place between The Empire StrikesBack and Return of the Jedi. I plan to purchase the hardcover version from amazon.com, a great supplier of books. I would recommend this book to all loyal Star Wars fans but I would not reccomend it to people who know nothing about Star Wars. If you read it you will be endlessly confused. I especially enjoyed the inclusion of all the Star Wars regulars such as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, and the evil new foe Prince Xizor and his side kick Guri. I also liked the witty charm of Dash Rendar, who is very much like Han Solo, a card cheat, a smuggler, and a charmer. I loved the story line and I liked how it was full of high speed adventure. It really is a must for all fans and amazon.com offers a great price on it. It should be a movie because it would go with the prequels and the sequels that George Lucas is making for 1999. C'mon George, ONE LAST TIME

Summary: Even better than Timothy Zahn's trilogy.
Review: Shadows of the Empire by Steve Perry is well worth the hype it has recieved. Seeing Darth Vader in action again is worth the price alone. Prince Xizor is a worthy new Star Wars villian as well. This book makes you want to put on some Star Wars theme music while you read it. It's that good

Summary: Shadows of the Empire-
Review: Steve Perry did an excellent job with this book. He took the Star Wars Universe and expanded it even farther than it already is. I hope Steve Perry will write a book on X-Wing vs Tie Fighter; I'd definitely buy that book

Summary: Shadows of the Empire-Not Too Shabby
Review: I really liked this book. Shadows of the Empire by Steve Perry was a good book for me, because despite the fact that I had not read any of the previous Star Wars books I could begin this book almost immediately. One part of this story that I really enjoyed was that Darth Vader was one of the 3 main characters, instead of a supporting member. Overall, I liked this book enough to pay in excess of $25.00 for it
