Summary: It was pretty good, but it could have been better.
Review: I thought that Shadows of the Empire was a pretty good book because I like Star Wars and other books like Star Wars, it is good becuse it describes what happens between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It also describes how Luke, Leia, Lando, and Chewbacca found Han Solo on Tatooine in Jabba's palace, and how he got there. Also, it told a new story that hasn't been heard of in the movies. It could have been better becuase the author didn't give enough backround information on Xixor or Dash Rendar (ie. How Xixor became the head of the Black Sun (with more detail), and how Dash came to know Lando. I think that it should be a movie, but it would look silly if Luke was either older than he was in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, or played by a different actor, since Shadows of the Empire takes place between movies. But all in all it was a pretty good book.

Summary: Basically, READ IT!!!!!
Review: "This is a good 'easy reading' book, but it'llprobably be junk," I thought as I plucked"Shadows of the Empire" off the bookstore shelf. Wow, was I wrong! This book is fabulous--I couldn't stop turning the pages until I was finished. I, a "Star Wars" junkie, had always wondered what happened between Episodes 5 and 6, and now I know. Every "Star Wars" fan should read "Shadows of the Empire". Find out what happens while Han is still in carbonite, and Luke, Leia, Lando, Chewie, and the droids go to rescue him. But there are obstacles in their way: Darth Vader, the Emperor, the notorious Jabba, Prince Xizor, and other enemies. This book is exciting, compelling, funny, and basically fabulous. I loved it, and I highly recommend it! Read it!!!!!!

Summary: Dash Rendar = Han Solo
Review: I think that this book was poorly written. First of all, the characters were not very well thought out. For example, Dash Rendar was, for all intents and purposes, Han Solo. Since Han could not be in this book (Due to being stuck in Carbonite), Steve Perry must have felt that he needed someone to make up for that total putz Luke (not Perry's fault - Luke was always a putz). Second, Xizor was pathetic. His great life's ambition was to replace Darth Vader. (yeah, right!) I mean, we all know that this just is not possable. It would take Darth about three seconds to dispose of SHEEZOR! Not that the book was all bad. I think that the setting of the book was pretty good. I am glad that Steve avoided the Oh, look it's a new rebellion! crap that seems to be going on after the Zahn trilogy came out. I also wish to say thank you to Mr. Perry for at least attempting to come up with new characters. Now if we could get a novel with ALL new characters in it , maybe star wars novels would get better. I mean, how realistic is it for the Chief of Staff of the New Republic and the Ulitmate Jedi of the Universe to go galivanting around the galaxy by themselves??

Summary: Shadows of the Empire was a good book. HURDEE!
Review: I bought this book because I was interested in the Shadows of the Empire. I have the game for Nintendo 64 and it was a cool story line. The story takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. It was good. I always wanted to know what happened between that time. All the characters were in the novel, with the exception of Solo being frozen in carbonite. I only wish that it had more Boba Fett in it. Cause in the game it talked about Boba Fett's rival bounty hunter, IG-88. And how IG-88 was also looking for Fett. That I think is its only down fall. The author Steve Perry could of put more characters in it, like IG-88. If you have never seen the Star Wars Trilogy, then you need to get a life. After you have seen the films read the book Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire. Then if you want to take on the Empire as Dash Rendar go rent the Nintendo 64 game Shadows of the Empire. Then go buy the PC game X-wing vs. Tie Fighter, cause it is going to kick ass

Summary: Good, but not Perfect
Review: This is a good escape from the norm of Star Wars novels. So often, there is the same story, with different characters. The only books that have escaped these norms are the Thrawn trilogy and the X Wing Series. Now, there is another. The book comes with a difficult set of circumstances, being a prequel to Return of The Jedi. That also means that you can pretty much expect what will happen, which makes this pretty unsuspenseful, like most Star Wars books. But still, the book is tons of fun, the only reason you might NOT like it is if you are a Star Wars purist and will not accept anything written about the original universe that is not written by George Lucas. But even as a semi purist, I enjoyed it

Summary: Summery of Shodows of the Empire
Review: If you are a Star Wars fan this book is a must. It fills the gap between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi! Read It

Summary: An Excellent Book
Review: In "Shadows of the Empire", Luke, Leia, Lando, and the droids seek Boba Fett in attemt to free Han, while the Evil Prince Xizor plots the death of Luke Skywalker. An excellent book filled with new characters and exciting action.

Summary: It is a must read
Review: It is the best book I have ever read. Itis a lot better than the other trilogy books and other Star Warsbooks. It cost a lot but it is worth every cent.

Summary: A Great Piece of Literature!!
Review: I really like this book. This is not the first or the last Star Wars book I have read, and I have liked all the ones I have read. But Shadows of the Empire is up there in the top three. It was so good that I read it in a week, which is fast, considering that I'm eleven years old. This book combined with the re-release of the movies got me into Star Wars novels again. I would recommend this book to both new and old Star Wars fans

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Recommended for die-hards but not for newbies.
Review: I bought and read this book soley because it belonged to the Star Wars universe. After all the hype when it came out, I was highly dissappointed. I believe that Steve Perry has a lot of potential as an author but he is no Timothy Zahn. I did not feel that he was as familiar with the characters as he should have been. I would still recomend this to die-hard Star Wars fans: it ties the first two movies together. But I would not recomend it to a first-time Star Wars reader: there are alot of obscure references and they might be put off by Perry's bland writting style
