Summary: What's the point?
Review: Why did this book happen? Why was it surrounded by such a huge media blitz?? I have read every Star Wars book published to date, and this is the one I have disliked the most. Here's a list of things that are wrong with this novel:
1. The characters. Why do we need Dash Rendar? Is there some sort of secret Star Wars formula that states there must always be a Han Solo character? Can there not be a story without a hot shot pilot/scoundrel/selfish-but-comes-around-in-the-end Corellian?
2. The end. I don't like books that end with the "did he live, or did he die?" question. Especially with characters I hate, and don't want to see popping up again in other books.
3. The BIG-DEAL everyone, including LucasArts, made out of this single book. Seems to me there should have been a BIG-DEAL made about Timothy Zahn's trilogy. For those novels, I would have been happy to fork over cash for a video game(can you imagine the possibilities?!?), a soundtrack, comic books, and action figures.

I rated this book a 4, and not a 1 or 2, because all in all, it wasn't a horrible novel. It just wasn't nearly the masterpiece I was led to believe it was.

Summary: SOTE- Best Book EVER
Review: The book SOTE was amazing. I can read it time and time again and still be amazed by the book. I hate to sound like I'm complaining because I loved the book, but the ending seemed rather weak. I personally believe that xizor is still alive (I guess it's up to Steve Perry to decide) but if Thrawn can live in Spectre of the Past, then I believe Xizor WAS NOT on board the skyhook when Vader blew it up. Ever wonder why Xizor never responded to Vader? You decide on your own, and maybe even Steve Perry would care to comment on this question: Is Xizor still alive? So when can we see the movie?

Summary: MORE BOBA FETT, LESS BLACK SUN AND REBELS!
Review: I liked this book a lot, but Steve Perry should have wrote a lot more about BOBA FETT'S struggle to deliver Solo to Jabba's Palace. The comic book portray's FETT the best out of the book, comic and game.

Summary: The attempt to rescue Han Solo from Boba Fett.
Review:

Dash Rendar is supposed to protect Luke from the Bounty Hunters. It is a fast moving story. The story begins at the Battle of Hoth, then progresses to the planet Tatoine to save Luke from Swoops.

Next you go to the sewers to get into Xizor's (she-zor) palace to rescue Leia. The Rebels blow up Xizor's skyhook and Dash crashes with a fiery death into the wreckage.

Summary: It wasn't the best or worst
Review: I think this book was pretty good. It starts out well and keeps going but towards the middle things start going a little fast. I agree with someone else who reviewed who said that if they would have made it two books it would have been better. Besides that it is pretty good but I would recommend Timothy Zahn's trilogy before which are much better pieces of literature.

Summary: Great in-between-er.
Review: This book highlights the events between The Empires Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. If you have seen the movies ( or read the books ) and have a good memory of the events, this book is for you. Han is still frozen in carbonite and there is a personal battle between Darth Vader and a leader of a international gang. The only problem is, Luke is wanted by both. Except one wants him dead and the other alive. Leia, Chewbacca and Lando etc. are also caught in the web. It fits brilliantly with the movies and explains a few unexplained questions like " Where the heck did Leia get that alien suit which she used at Jabbas Palace? ". It contains the same feel of rebellion as the movies does, and features events in which Lukes power increase. While this happens the Emperor and Vader ponder on how they will trun him to the Dark Side. Through the whole book you also sense that Vader is about to betray the Emperor. Unlike the movies you can see deeply into the twisted mind of Vader and you find a lot of stuff about his disfunctional body. All in all, a great book which embodies the traditional excellence of all Star Wars books.

Summary: Great Book, Even Greater Author!
Review: Not only was this a good book, but Steve Perry is one of the nicest people. I recommend this book even if you only like Star Wars a little bit.

Summary: This book is a book I would certainly recomend to all...
Review: Star Wars fans. After viewing Return of the Jedi, I began wondering what happened while Han was still frozen in carbonite. So I tried my luck by asking my friend,an anonomous Star Wars fan. His response was Steve Perry, a magnificent author,(as I knew after reading some of his previous books)who wrote a thrilling novel,Shadows of the Empire! I took his advice.Three days later I finished the book! The story explains how a scalley, reptile like villin, richer than Jabba the Hutt himself wants Luke Skywalker dead and how Darth Vader and the Emperor want him alive!Once again I recomend this action packed sequel to Empire Strikes Back to either be checked out of the libary or bought from Amazon.com!

Summary: Should really become a movie!!
Review: My name's C. Smith I'm 13 but read the Book when I was 12. I read SOTE on a summer trip. I really recommend it for all Star Wars fans. The only thing I didn't like was when the Outrider blew up Dash was my favorite character. But it includes the notorius Boba Fett. I have some of the SOTE figure collection and have played the game on N64 I only wish they would come out with the game for PlayStation. So in summary if your a Star Wars fan: READ IT!!!!!!!
