Summary: Fills the gap between the Star Wars movies very nicely.
Review: This was my 2nd Star Wars novel that I read, and I found this one a lot better. A very good novel, and it fills the gaping hole between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi quite well. The characters are well-developed, and the story flows excellently. It has the right dose of action, as well. The only flaw is the villains. Xizor wasn't that impressive, and him and Guri are so emotionless at times that it gets dull. Nevertheless, a very good novel.

Summary: Shadow of the Empire, not inspiring
Review: as i opened the book and read the first chapter i realized i found myself dozing off. after the second chapter i put it down and started to read another Star Wars novel ( which i already read 3 times through). it was just missing something, i don't know maybe a better villain. Prince Xizor for all his wisdom and deavonare should not have undermine our young jedi. it seemed very unreal how luke got into his mansion and saved the princess from the clutches of xizor. another thing i did not like was the fact that Vader's bond to Emperor Palpatine was completely different from the movies. it seemed as if he was about to attack the emperor himself and take the throne. i would also like to see the explanation why Leia was not seduced by xizor the final meeting between the two. Maybe being a skywalker might have had a little to do with it. the only parts which are lucas worth are the dogfights involving rogue squadron, and dash rendar ( a incomer who is more cocky then Han ever could be, but like han he could back up his cockiness with exceptional flying and handling himself in a fight with a blaster at his side). Other than that it was pretty unbelievable. Coruscant should have been more of a challenge to the team. there were some good parts in the book that revealed things that happened in Return of the Jedi, for example how the Death Star plans came upon the rebels. the only reason i gave it 3 stars is because i love Star Wars and i love the cast ( minus Prince Xizor).

Summary: Han Solo's out of the picture, and it's still good
Review: This book is definitely one of the better Star Wars novels out there. The characters are realistic and intriguing, and the book has comic relief even while Han Solo is frozen in carbonite. This is the only book to easily squeeze in with the movies, and it even rivals them!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Take it from a TRUE Star Wars fan.
Review: This is a great Star Wars Book. But keep in mind that it never says at the end that Dash died. It just said that he was gone. And this story does NOT make Leai look weak. Remember, she knees Xizor right where it counts. ;-) I don't see how anybody could not like this.

Summary: This book IS Star Wars!
Review: When I had first borrowed the children's version (I was only 10 then) I thought, "What a great book." But it wasn't until I picked up a copy of the original novel that I realized its true meaning. This book, I must say, rivals even the myriad of sequels and prequels. (Yes, that's how good it is." I love the seductive, cunning, powerful Prince Xizor, and Dash Rendar is a powerful stand-in for carbonized Han Solo. Guri sounded beautiful to me, and I loved Rogue Squadron's role. I now own the games, the comics, a few figures, and of course the book. May the Force be With You, SOTE, and you too, Steve Perry! This tale will last for a LONG time!!!!!!

Summary: predictable but good
Review: xisor sucks .vader crushed him easily one thing i didnt like was the emperor was really flat. darth kept on having doubts about himself and palpatine...that sucked compared to the loyalty in the return of the jedi..STAR WARS RULES!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: More follies of the SW gang, rivalry between Vader and Xizor
Review: Great book, action packed, really captures the same feeling of the original trilogy, fills in the void between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Introduces Prince Xizor and his rivalry with the Dark Lord of the Sith (Darth Vader). You can almost hear the hum of the lightsaber when Luke tries it out for the first time, a must for all SW fans

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The book is too cool for you peoples.
Review: Ok, this takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. Han Solo is stuck in carbonite. Darth Vader and Xizor, the leader of the Balck Sun (bunch of criminals), are after our hero, Luke Skywalker. READ THIS OR ELSE!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Worthy Of Lucas' Legacy!!
Review: Shadows Of the Empire was a great successor to the empire strikes back. It introduces new characters and builds on their persona's with the gracefullness of the original stories written by the legendary George Lucas. Shadows was a great book introducing many new faces and continueing the story of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Vader's passion for Luke builds up to a climactic standpoint leading up to "Return Of the Jedi" .In this novel and for all those who want to know what had happened between Empire and Jedi, this book is a definite collection to your Star Wars Collection.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Possably the best Star Wars of them all!!!
Review: If you like good books, read this book. If you like Star Wars, read this book. If you like Sci-Fi, read this book. And if you love a good story with intricate twists and turns, then you will love this book! Steve Parry outdoes himself in this great and thrilling story. I only hope that Dash Rendar is brought back for later books. If you want a good time, then read this superb book about the Star Wars Universe!
