Summary: Saturday Morning cartoons never read so good.
Review: Jay Stephen's surreal yet engaging Jet Cat Clubhouse gets a trade collection with various other short stories and storyboard frolics from throughout Stephens' career. The book stars JetCat a young girl/ superhero cat fighting big meanies with the help of the Two Fisted Five (Stephen's "Fantastic Four" esque team of crime fighting heroes) Tutenstein a mummy/Frankenstien character who has to adapt to modern surroundings and Oddette a rich punk kid whose main aim in life it to be the coolest/strangest girl around. The characters are fantastic, Stephens aims the humour not just at children but everyone, it's surreal, fun, the humour is spot on and the shorter the story the better it is. Oni Press has produced a nice little package here collecting as much JetCat material they can find, with animation guides, storyboards and little games adding to the "bonus material." Stephens has crafted this amazing little world that leaps out at you just like Saturday morning shows are supposed to.
A real treat, no matter how old/young you are.
