Summary: Can't Wait To Read The Next One
Review: This book, the second in the Left Behind Series, was a suspenseful page-turner. I stayed up till 2am two nights in a row because I had to find out what would happen next. Easy to read and so hard to put down. I certainly look forward to the rest of the books in this series.

Summary: Well Crafted Tale
Review: "Tribulation Force" second novel in the "Left Behind" series is even more interesting than the debut novel. Although the book looks heavy it is easily read and definitly holds the readers attention. This is one of those hard to put down books and I was especially impressed with the realism of the action and the dialogue. The series comes alive for those with some knowledge of the Bible. I was engrossed from the first page clear through to the last and found especially memorable the Tsion Ben-Judah's study of the necessary signs to be fulfilled in the Jewish search for the Messiah. Captivating Series...

Summary: My whole family loves them
Review: My entire family of 5 (age 11 through 39) has read and loved the Left Behind books. We recommend them to everyone. The great strengths of these books are the characters and the settings. The characters are remarkably real. They feel pain, sorrow, and everything a human feels, plus they react as one would to situations. The setting is realistic too, because it has real cities, real climates, and the authors describe the places in as much detail as possible. Most important is that the Gospel is given plainly and repeatedly so that no one can read these books without learning the truth of Christ.

Summary: An Outstanding Sequel to the Hit Novel
Review: I loved this book, just as I have loved the rest of the Left Behind series. Written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, these books deliver a powerful spiritual message without denominational slurs and an in-your-face attack. This book, like others, has a powerful storyline, a strong message, and memorable characters. I highly recommend this book - and any book in this series - for anybody interested in Christianity or the end times.

The main characters - Rayford, Chloe, and Buck - continue their saga in the times after the Rapture. This book is high suspense, making the time it takes to turn a page seem like forever. What will Nicolae do next? What does God's great plan have in store for the Tribulation Force? How many people will come to witness the power of Christ? Many secrets await, and new faces will appear.

As I stated before, I highly recommend this novel and other novels in the series. I certainly would read the books in order, and I would have a bible handy to catch many of the allusions. However, for the most part it is a fun read with a powerful message. I have one final piece of advice - buy Nicolae when you purchase this book. You won't want to wait for the next edition to arrive!

Summary: a waste of a good plot.
Review: I read the Left Behind series for kids amd I didn't expect Tribulation Force to be much much different. This book had the same basic plot and some of the characters from the children's version. This book is about the end of the world. God's church has ascended into heaven and all the unbelievers are now living in the last seven years of the Earth. Four people find each other and God and beg forgiveness before it is too late and try to spread the truth. Nicolae Carpathia then quickly rises to power and becomes head of the U.N.. He acts very humble, but is quite evil and the is Antichrist. He has the ability to make people believe whatever he wants and becomes the worlds leader. However it seemed to be more focused on the love lives of the main characters Buck WIlliams, Chloe Steele, and Rayford Steele. The relationship between Buck and Chloe really seemed to just drag on and waste alot of pages. Bruce Barnes their pastor dies on the last ten pages, but even that seems somewhat rushed. The plot flies by and leaves you with the slow moving love scenes. This book would be better if the author had shortened the love scenes and focused more on the judgments and Carpathia's actions. Tim Layhaye has a great plot, but as I said simply focuses on the romance of the characters.

Summary: A Suspenseful Adventure
Review: ...Four friends that have come together as the world is falling apart because of the "Tribulation Force" and form unity despite all the chaos in the world. The Antichrist is deceiving the world by making world peace that isn't real. He thinks that he has deceived everyone, but the true Christians, Buck, Chloe, Rayford, and Bruce, know what's really going on because the spirit of Jesus Christ in living in them.

This story works very suspense fully, you never know when something is about to happen. I really enjoy how everything is kind of a mystery and it unwraps in a slow, but good way. I also enjoyed when all the action happened at the very end, leaving you hanging there, so that you can read the next book. For example, when Rayford and Amanda get married along with Buck and Chloe and also when Hattie is pregnant with Carpathia's baby. I also like how the authors backed up what they with facts, so you could almost tell what was going on but not quite. I think that Carpathia's true personality is revealed when he sees the doctor on the television when he says" The Messiah is Jesus Christ." Carpathia was pretty disappointed in him.

I highly recommend this book to Christians or people questioning the power of God or for people that like suspense. I really enjoyed it, it was kind of lengthy but it goes by fast.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I really enjoyed the first installment of the Left Behind series. Books in the series are easy to read and they usually keep you turning the pages. Tribulation Force was somewhat disappointing, though. Nothing remotely interesting happened until the last ten pages or so of the book. This is the only reason I'm going to read Left Behind #3. I found the characters in this book to be very boring, and even somewhat annoying. I can't stand the relationship between Chloe and Buck. So many pages of the book were wasted discussing how their relationship developed. I don't see what the point of that was. Again, nothing really happened in the book until the end. I still think the series has potential, though.

Summary: PREPARE TO BELIEVE!
Review: Never has a book series had an impact on humanity as that of Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins' fast-selling "Left Behind" series. When the first novel came out in November of 1995, it immeadiately became a word-of-mouth hit. It wasn't long before the second "Left Behind" novel, "Tribulation Force," hit the shelves. Mixing Biblical prophecy with that of events in our everyday lives, "Tribulation Force" throws us into the middle of the worst time in Earth's history, as Satan's spawn begins his reign on earth. "Tribulation Force" is better in the fact that, as you go deeper into the series, it gets more exciting, and we see biblical prophecy come alive in exact detail. If there has ever been a series of novels that reign as king, the "Left Behind" series is it. And prepare for the release of the motion picture "Left Behind II: Tribulation Force," coming out on video and DVD Novembere 2002. Grade: A+

Summary: Suffers from second book syndrome.
Review: I read the first of the Left Behind novels a little over a year ago and never really felt any compelling need or desire to continue reading the series. But based on the recommendation of several friends, I picked up the second novel in the series and gave it a try.

And while I liked Tribulation Force and it was a fairly quick read, I can't say that I was overly impressed by it.

Please don't misunderstand me--the authors have done a great job of researching the end times as predicted in Revelations and creating a world in which those events are coming to pass. If they stuck to that alone, my rating for this story would be a lot higher than it is. It's just that they don't write characters very well. None of the main protagonists feels very three-dimensional and that causes me to lose interest in them from time to time. Add to it that they pause every four pages to reflect on the events that have taken place up until now and it can get tedious quickly.

I will, however, give the authors one thing--they know how to end a book. Tribulation Force ends on a cliffhanger and it's enough of one that I'm curious to pick up book three and see how the events continue to play out.

Summary: The redeeming quality of abridgement
Review: You won't hear me say this often, but thank God for this audio abridged version of the "Left Behind" books.

If you're looking for insights on deep theological issues put into a fictional story, trust me, you're barking up the wrong tree here. I don't necessarily agree with the eschatological view put forth in these books, but that doesn't bother me. This is their interpretation of end times and that's fine. But these books have many faults. They are too predictable. They use too many soap opera techniques. But, worst of all, they are incredibly too long. That's including the individual books themselves, and the fact that the series will have, what, 10 or 12 books total? I wouldn't mind the length if it had a point. Say, if they were closely following the prophesied Biblical events, or presenting entirely new ideas that haven't been done several times before. But they aren't. I wouldn't mind if the action lead to deep emotional and spiritual conflicts within the characters, which in turn lead to meaningful revelations or personal growth. But they don't. Not really. Just take that whole misunderstanding between Chloe and Buck. If I'm reading this story correctly, Chloe becomes a Christian, knows the world is going to end in seven years, and is content to be obsessed with and mean about Buck possibly having a fiancee? You read through all of that, aren't rewarded with any kind of spiritual insight through the episode, and it ends in a predictable manner. Why even waste my time?

I can't say that I haven't enjoyed certain parts, though. As a Christian, I admire anyone who attempts to write a novel based in Scripture. And there are parts I can relate to so acutely that those few instances alone encourage me to read on. I have read the first three installments in the series, and while I have several complaints, the books are just entertaining enough, and have just the right amount of redeeming qualities to make me want to see what happens next. Facing this quandry, I found the perfect "out". The abridged audio version of the series, read by the incomparable Frank Muller. Each book is on two tapes, about 4 hours total. The abridgement is perfect ... the authors should've abridged the actual books to contain just what's on these tapes. And it's much more fulfilling than the dramatized version. It's the best of both worlds! Best of all, it will free your time to read books that will fulfill rather than just entertain.
