Summary: Two cookies, a press conference, and the Anti-Christ
Review: The header says it all for one of the weakest moments in all of literature. What else would YOU do, if you shared a platform with the most evil human being that ever lived? Why you would nibble on a cookie before a national audience, as you promised your girlfriend you would do, silly! And if you were that girlfriend? Watching events unfurl that mean the death and damnation of most of the world's populations? Why, run a grab a cookie to eat it together! How Romantic! (AAARRRGGHH!!)

Book 2 of this series made me seriously consider the effort of plodding through the other entries (up to 11 or 12 by last count!). This series, which could have been an epic of theology and action, instead settles for silly romances with characters that seem plastic and unreal. The spiritual journey is one beset by trials and difficulties, evil tests man's will at every bend. Here, the "Trib Force" finds no problem going to work for the Anti-Christ. If this group is the best the forces of good have to offer, we are all doomed. As Evil stands undefeated, the Tribulation might go on for ANOTHER seven years, (ie. 24 books!!).

In other aspects, this work seems very Anti-Catholic, and presents a perspective of the Church that is neither real, taught, nor accepted. Trust me, I've done the James Joyce/"taught by Nuns" route. In spite of this, I do run into a Baptist who seems to be able to tell me "what I believe", and then say I am wrong when I disagree with what he says MY Church teaches.

Back to the book, if you choose to read it, skip the first 300 pages. It really takes that long for anything interesting to happen plot-wise, and you eyes will be less tired from not rolling back in your head!

Summary: good
Review: This was another page-turner for the most part. For the first half of the book, I got very tired of hearing repeatedly how they marveled at their past ignorance and how now their new-found knowledge was so liberating. This book tended to be more preachy than the first one, which I found tiresome. I enjoyed the brief conflict between Buck and Verna. It lent a down-to-earth aspect to the story, a nice break from the often supernatural-like events of the rest of the story. All in all, definitely worth reading.

Summary: Be patient with this one....
Review: Although not as good overall as the first Left Behind book, "Tribulation Force" is still worthy of a 5-star rating.

"Tribulation Force" is slow to get started, and it is not until you have read through the entire book that you understand why. For all the character development that the first book took us through, there was still quite a bit more development that needed to take place. When all is said and done, this book series is going to cover a 7-year period. Without proper character development, most of us will quit caring what happens to them quickly.

"Tribulation Force" begins around the third week after the rapture of God's church and continues through the 7-year peace treaty signing between the Antichrist and Israeal. Along the way we see the just how far the Antichrist's hold on the earth is and how much more it will become.

Though many people will be disappointed at the slow pace and lack of overall suspense of "Tribulation Force," those who read it through to the end will have a better appreciation for the entire series as a whole.

Summary: Poor sequel to a good book
Review: I liked the first left behind. The constant developpement of the plot when the characters realize that everything around them is written in the bible makes you wonder.

The problem is that the poor aspects of the 1st left behind are overemphasized in Tribulation Force. I wanted to know what was happening to the temple, to New Babylone, to the new Global Community...i got pages and pages of cheesy platonic love dialogues between shallow characters.

Also, while the first book was subtle about instilling the idea of conversion in your mind, this one gets you right into it without false pretense. It becomes repetitive and can fall on your nerves because it is so obvious.

I believe that this subtlety made the charm of LB. It is lost in TF.

I will give a chance to Nicolae (book 3) if it is much of the same, it will be my last one

Summary: Good Idea, Weak Story
Review: This book is teen level reading at its best. The author spends to much time telling about the first book. The comments about the Catholic Church and Catholics are not theologically or historically accurate. If you want to know what the Church teaches and has always taught, go directly to the source, not some teaching one protestant minister has handed down to another. The concept of the story is a great one. It just doesn't deliver. It moves way to slowly.

Summary: God Help Me...
Review: As an avowed non-literalist, I read the Left Behind series to keep up with the mentality of people who believe the end of the world will occur when Jesus comes down on the clouds. That'd be one long trip, since traveling at the speed of light, it would take over 2000 years to just make it through our galaxy, which is one of billions of galaxies. And, before you all rush to give me heck, let me say I don't hate literalists, I hate the sin of literalism.

What to say about this series (of which I've read -- gulp-- six)-- they are interesting page turners, with below average writing but above average thrills. The concept of the Rapture is well done -- I love the idea of people disappearing without explanation. What I don't love about the series is the transparent effort to discredit anyone who is a non-literalist. These books are appallingly anti-Catholic, for one thing. There is no effort to explain why it is that everyone has to accept Christ -- you either believe blindly or suffer torture. ...

And, many have already pointed this out, but do these authors not take to heart the Bible passage that it is easier for a camel to make it through an eye of a needle than a rich man to make in to Heaven? 10 books to tell this story? Hope they're titheing at least 10% of that profit.

Summary: Weakest in the series
Review: While the original Left Behind book was by no means a classic of modern literature, it had a truly compelling story and a set of characters that one could sincerely care about. In the second of the series, the writers focus more closely on the development on the key characters.

Unfortunately a large part of this book describes the developing relationships between key characters (Buck and Chloe) and to be blunt, the standard of romance writing is tragic. Despite the fact that I am a guy (and don't read romance novels as a rule ... honest) I found many of the romantic plot points wholly cringe worthy.

Despite the difficulty I had reading this book, it is a small (and some would argue necessary) blight on the Left Behind series. Once through it you have a feeling of "right ... I know who is who now lets get on with the end of the world".

I can't give this book more than 2/5 stars, yet I encourage you to read it, simply so that you can enjoy the tremendous value which later books in the series offer.

Summary: There is no intelligent life on this planet!
Review: Wow! I'm terrified! Either end up in heaven with billions of brain-dead sheep or burn in hell for all time... I think I'll get used to the heat...
I would like to refute the childish arguments made in this book with some reasonable analysis but I understand that reason has nothing to do this... thing. Scary that 50 million books were sold. This is scary stuff... what does that say about the 5 million people who bought ten books each? ;-)
As a Christian, I was brought up to accept Jesus into my heart... however, I don't like the company I find myself in. What's with these fundamentalists anyway? Can't they understand a metaphor?
