Summary: Tribulation Force
Review: With this novel LaHaye and Jenkins have hit their stride. An enthralling novel in and of it's own right, the authors still maintain strict accuracy with regard to scriptural matters. This is an excellent book to give to friends who are non-believers and need a wake up call concerning their choices for the future.

Summary: Setting the Table
Review: While not quite as fluid as the first novel, this second in the series captures the reader's attention and lets us know for sure that, yes, there will be more to come.

The character development lets us get to know everyone a little better, though I, like many others, thought the budding romance between Buck and Chloe was a little too overdone.

There is also the too-rapid introduction of another major character into the Trib Force, and I think the authors forced this on us too quickly, and I was not able to assuage my suspicions about this person that was introduced.

Other than this, the book held my attention, and I look forward to completing the entire series. I think Jerry Jenkins, the actual style writer of the book, is just now hitting his groove, and his writing skill will become more evident in future books. The book is well worth reading, and we leave the trib force in this book well cemented and believable.

Summary: Egads.
Review: This is utter dreck. I remain at a loss as to why this ill-conceived and hackish series continues to make the best seller list. I am particularly disturbed at the xenophobic impulse which gives the Antichrist(whatever that may be) a foreign name, multilingual abilities and influence in the United Nations. What is wrong with the American reading public? Not to mention that the phrase "Tribulation Force" gives the reader an image of lycra-clad superheroes stuck in a bad morality play. It's all just plum silly and a complete waste of ink.

Summary: Too much Soap.
Review: This books left a lot to be desired. There really was too much emphasis in the first part on Buck and Chloe's relationship with missteps galore. The entire time, I was thinking, just get on with it. I was about ready to set the book down when it finally moved beyond that and got interesting again. The middle was better, but you know they were in trouble when they had to skip 18 months to get a cliff hanger so you'll be hooked for the next book.

Summary: Stronger in faith and beliefs
Review: I have completed book #2. I like the references to The Bible because I do not have a full knowledge of passages and verses. This makes me want to know exactly what The Bible is saying about topics relating to the Anti-Christ and other chapters relating to expectations in this world. I do believe that Tribulation Force talks about the challenges faced by Buck, Chloe, Rayford, Bruce, Loretta, etc. during those times. It may be something to agree or disagree with if it were truly real. I know and like the idea of the mixture of truth and fiction.

Tribulation Force makes you see the importance of strengthening your faith, beliefs and asking questions that need answers. I am presently finishing up book #3 showing how Nicolae starts to show who he really is. People in Tribulation Force thought that Nicole was the best that might ever come along. He was so perfect, and that was part of the problem because he led everyone to think he was "perfect." They believed he was The Messiah. He wreaks havoc over nations and has people doing things they do not even recognize as wrong. He delights in his power. Some of the same things could be happening in this day and age. I am certain there are Nicole's (as in the Left Behind series) in this world and may be hard to recognize.

The Left Behind series started with a referral from a friend. Once I started it, I have told others and they are wrapped up in the books. None of the books are to be taken, in my estimation, literally. The references to The Bible are fact, but the interpretation may not be. It gives me a reason to go and read further; it gives me more basis to listen carefully when our minister is giving his sermon and each book makes me strengthen my faith. I, along with many others, think the Left Behind series is excellent. The first book was introductory, and the Tribulation Force starts to build this incredible picture of 'good vs. evil.' One really can read and make a choice has to which appeals to them. I will continue to read the rest of the series and wait for the others to make their appearance.

Summary: Think so?
Review: It certainly attempts to literally interpret a very difficult and symbolic text. I believe a more realistic approach must factually account for how the world is changing and where that change is likely to take us. For non-fiction, I urge all to read "The End of Privacy" by Reg Whitaker. Then take the next step and devour "Transfer-the end of the beginning" by Jerry Furland.

The Left Behind series often left me behind due to the incongruous plot lines. Why do things happen the way they do? Does God have to intervene to move events or does God merely describe what will be? .... THis is not theological Rocket Science...

Summary: Simple simon interprets the bible!
Review: Although the story line could have produced a pretty good series of novels, this 2nd book in the series stinks of puerile, infantile writting with an overtly predictable suspense line. The idea is good, the writer could have done better reading a few Hardy boys novels and pumping them up for an adult audience. While not a believer of interpreting the bible literally, the story has good ideas. I will however read the rest of the series, but I will not recommend it to others. Only for those who are not yet at the "hand holding stage" of their love life (quote from the book!)

Summary: I wish this series was done by a better writer.
Review: This book leaves me in a quandry. Much like a soap opera, I'm hooked into the story line and want to find out what happens with the characters. On the other hand, the amateurish writing makes me question whether I should continue to read more.

The whole plot line involving romance could have been completely eliminated and the story would not have suffered for the loss. Instead, we are made to suffer the incredibly bad writing which characterized this plot line. The whole bit with the confusion and speculation on the flowers and the bit about the cookie were painful to read. I was waiting for Buck to have Bruce pass Chloe a secret note during one of their meeting which would have read, "I love you, do you love me? Check yes or no in the boxes provided."

Bruce's fate was entirely predictable. The author is totally naive to try and sell the idea that "cryptic" emails would be safe and private. The author arduously belabors the point that the members of the "Tribulation Force" are the only ones who seem to know that Carpathia is the antichrist. I'm made to feel that I'm not intelligent enough to put that together on my own much like the ever chuckling Ed McMahon and Dick Clark on their bloopers show repeatedly explaining the premise of one of their "practical jokes" as if I'm just too stupid to get it on my own.

I give this a grudging 3 stars. I'll probably give #3 "Carpathia" a try if I don't have to spend the money on it. If the story lines and writing continue to be as bad as what I've read here, I'll leave the rest of this series behind.

Summary: I would skip this book in the series.
Review: The Left Behind series is the best I have ever read, but quite frankly, this was the least exciting of all of them so far. It is more focused on relationships, and moves rather slowly. You get all the info you need at the beginning of the next book. It's really not worth the time. But definitely keep going in the series. They are excellent.

Summary: The Concept of Reality
Review: Can the reality of rapture be explained ? Can the concept of the AntiChrist be fully comprehended ? Is it possible to determine that which can not been seen ? How does one who knows the ending, effect it's outcome ? These are some of the perplexing questions explored and challenged in this the second of the Left Behind series. The Tribulation Force, small, yet informed, position themselves to prepare for a war. This is an ungodly war not against man but the principalities of the evil unseen. This book is gripping and emotional. We become immersed in the decision process that each of the main characters must make. There is a compulsion to think and rationalize the "what-if's". There is a process by which we begin to analyze something within oursleves. The reality of being left behind. We begin to see that the smaller part of ourselves are in part with the group known as the Tribulation Force. This book is the continuation of that which has begun in the first. It is moving and fast paced. It is difficult to conceptualize the fact the this could be the reality yet to come in our lives. I implore everyone to read this series and if like me you havn't been moved to examine the inner core of your belief system, you will.
